13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards
The ''13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards'' is the 13th edition of the Interactive Achievement Awards, an annual awards event that honors the best games in the video game industry. The awards are arranged by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), and were held at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada on . It was also held as part of the Academy's 2010 D.I.C.E. Summit, and was hosted by stand up comedian Jay Mohr. This was the first year that "Console Game of the Year" and "Computer Game of the Year" were not offered. "Handheld Game of the Year" and " Cellular Game of the Year" were merged into the "Portable Game of the Year" award category. Additionally, an award for " Outstanding Achievement in Portable Game Design" was offered. " Role-Playing Game of the Year" and "Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year" were merged into one category. Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa
Red Rock Resort is a hotel and casino in Summerlin South, Nevada, located in the Las Vegas Valley. It is owned and operated by Station Casinos on located in the Downtown Summerlin neighborhood. It is Station Casinos' flagship property, and the company's corporate headquarters is located on the property. The project was announced in July 2002 and is named after the nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The project initially was to include a 23-story, 300-foot hotel tower with 1,000 rooms, as well as timeshare buildings that would be added in a future phase. In October 2003, the project received opposition from people who believed that it would harm the quality of life for Summerlin residents and that it would destroy the views of Red Rock Canyon.
