Želary
''Želary'' is a 2003 Czech/Slovak film directed by Ondřej Trojan and starring Anna Geislerová. The film received a 2004 Academy Award nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. It was produced by Barrandov Studios in Prague. The film is adapted from two works by Czech novelist Květa Legátová - "Želary", a collection of short stories published in 2001, and her 2002 book, "Jozova Hanule". Plot In the 1940s Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, Eliška is a nurse who works alongside her lover, Richard, a respected surgeon. They are part of an underground resistance network that has formed to help those in danger of persecution from the Nazis. Eliška acts as a messenger. One night, Richard responds to an emergency call to a patient needing a risky operation. Because she has the same blood type, Eliška gives blood for the transfusion. Anna Geislerová, also known as Aňa Geislerová (born 17 April 1976), is a Czech actress. She became well known for her double role of Eliška/Hana in movie '' Želary'' (2003) and as Anna in '' Návrat idiota'' (1999). A former model, Geislerová made her feature film debut at age 12. Iva Bittová
Iva Bittová (born 22 July 1958) is a Czech avant-garde violinist, singer, and composer. She began her career as an actor in the mid-1970s, appearing in several Czech feature films, but switched to playing violin and singing in the early 1980s. František Velecký (often credited as Fero Velecký, 8 March 1934 – 5 October 2003) was a Slovak actor. This is a list of submissions to the 76th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is handed out annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. For the 76th Academy Awards, fifty-six films were submitted to the Academy. Petr Jarchovský
Petr Jarchovský (born 6 October 1966 in Prague) is a Czech screenwriter, whose writing credits include ''Big Beat'' (1993), ''Cosy Dens'' (1999), and '' Divided We Fall'' (2000). Jarchovský is a frequent and long-term collaborator with director Jan Hřebejk. Career Jarchovský attended high school in Prague and then, from 1987 to 1991, at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, alongside his high school classmate and future creative collaborator Jan Hřebejk. His screenwriting debut was a collaboration with another classmate, Igor Chaun, on a project entitled ''Very Believable Stories''.
