ProA
The ProA is the German basketball league system, second-tier Sports league, league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 16 teams. Officially the ProA is part of the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'', which consists of the two hierarchical leagues ''ProA'' and ''ProB''. Before the 2007–08 season, the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'' was a basketball league with the same name, which consisted of two geographical divisions. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams qualify for the Basketball Bundesliga, and the teams positioned 15th and 16th are Promotion and relegation, relegated to the lower league, ProB. Science City Jena is a basketball club based in Jena, Germany that plays in the ProA. Their home court is the Sparkassen Arena, which seats 3,000. Their current head coach is Björn Harmsen. The team was known as Erdgas Baskets Jena through the 2006 season, then as POM Baskets Jena, then Science City Jena in 2007. After being renamed to Medipolis SC Jena in 2021 due to sponsoring reasons, the name Science City Jena was again used from the 2024/25 season on. Its home arena is Trier Arena, which has a capacity of 5,495 people. From 1990 till 2015 the club existed in the form of TBB Trier, which went bankrupt. History The club was founded as TBB Trier in 1990, and has played in the top division Basketball Bundesliga since the club's inception.
