Nürnberg Falcons BC
Nürnberg Falcons BC, formerly called Nürnberger BC (abbreviated as NBC) is a basketball club based in Nuremberg, Germany. The team currently in the ProA, the German professional second division. In 2010–11 the team promoted from the ProB to the ProA. In 2019, Nürnberg finished as runner-up in the ProA. The Falcons play their home games since 2021 in the new build Kia Metropol arena, which has a capacity of 4000 people. History In the 2018–19 ProA season, Nürnberg ended in third place in the standings. In the playoffs it defeated second-seeded Heidelberg to qualify for the ProA finals. Because of this achievement, the team earned promotion to the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) for the first time. In May 2019, it was announced that Falcons did not obtain a license for the BBL due to not meeting requirements on minimum arena size and minimum budget. ProA
Proas are various types of multi-hull outrigger sailboats of the Austronesian peoples. The terms were used for native Austronesian ships in European records during the Colonial era indiscriminately, and thus can confusingly refer to the double-ended single-outrigger boats of Oceania, the double-outrigger boats of Island Southeast Asia, and sometimes ships with no outriggers or sails at all. In its most common usage, the term ''proa'' refers to the Pacific proas which consist of two (usually) unequal-length parallel hulls. It is sailed so that one hull is kept to windward, and the other to leeward. It is double-ended, since it needs to " shunt" to reverse direction when tacking. The 2014–15 ProA, was the 8th season of the ProA, the second level of basketball in Germany. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. Diante Levante Watkins (born 5 July 1990) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for Çayırova Belediyespor of the Turkish Basketball First League. College career Watkins, a graduate of Hubbard High School, attended Richard J. Daley College, earning National Junior College Athletic Association All-America Third Team honors in the 2009-10 season. He subsequently enrolled at Robert Morris University Illinois. Eric Maurice Washington (born March 23, 1974) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Washington attended the University of Alabama, where he scored 1,532 points, grabbed 557 rebounds, and made 262 three-point field goals. He was selected in the 1997 NBA Draft as the 48th overall pick by the Orlando Magic, and appeared for the Denver Nuggets during two seasons, from 1997 to 1999. Dan Oppland
Dan Oppland (born 7 January 1984) is an American basketball coach and former player. A standout player for Valparaiso, he is the third all-time leading scorer for the Beacons, having scored 1,780 points. From 2006 to 2022, he played professionally in Europe, spending most of his time with the Swans Gmunden in Austria and for several clubs in Germany. Professional career Oppland started his professional career in the Dutch Eredivisie for Donar (then named Hanzevast Capitals after their sponsor). The following season, he played for Plannja Basket in Sweden and also played European basketball with the team. In January 2008, Oppland signed with Bayreuth of the German second-level ProA. Ish Wainright
Ishmail Carzell Wainright (born September 12, 1994) is an American-Ugandan professional basketball player who last played for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also represents the senior Ugandan national team. He played college basketball for the Baylor Bears, as well as played football as a tight end. Tim Ohlbrecht (born August 30, 1988) is a retired German professional basketball player. He won 84 caps for the German men's national team, competing in the 2008 Olympic Games, the 2010 World Championships as well as the European Championships in 2009 and 2011. Braydon Alexander Hobbs (born May 17, 1989) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played four seasons of college basketball for Bellarmine University where he was a key member of the Knights' 2011 championship winning team, helping the school claim their first NCAA Division II National Championship. He played professionally in Europe and Australia, winning two QBL championships with the Mackay Meteors in 2012 and 2015. Hobbs spent most of his professional career playing in Germany.
