Römerstrom Gladiators Trier
Gladiators Treves, for sponsorship reasons known as Römerstrom Gladiators Trier, is a professional basketball club based in Trier, Germany. The club plays in the ProA. Its home arena is Trier Arena, which has a capacity of 5,495 people. From 1990 till 2015 the club existed in the form of TBB Trier, which went bankrupt. History The club was founded as TBB Trier in 1990, and has played in the top division Basketball Bundesliga since the club's inception. They once were a part of the sports club ''TV Germania Trier'', and became independent after promotion to the Basketball Bundesliga. In the 2014–15 season, TBB relegated after it lost points in the standings because of financial problems. The club was dissolved after the season. However in the 2015 offseason, a new club was founded which was not the legal successor of TBB but inherited the club's license to play in the second tier ProA. ProA
The ProA is the German basketball league system, second-tier Sports league, league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 16 teams. Officially the ProA is part of the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'', which consists of the two hierarchical leagues ''ProA'' and ''ProB''. Before the 2007–08 season, the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'' was a basketball league with the same name, which consisted of two geographical divisions. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams qualify for the Basketball Bundesliga, and the teams positioned 15th and 16th are Promotion and relegation, relegated to the lower league, ProB. Bastian Doreth (born 8 June 1989) is a German basketball player for Nürnberg Falcons of the German ProA. He is a former member of the German national basketball team. The 2024–25 BBL-Pokal was the 58th season of the BBL-Pokal, the domestic cup competition of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL, running from 14 September 2024 to 16 February 2025. Mitteldeutscher BC defeated Bamberg Baskets in the final to win their first title. Format The top eight teams of the 2023–24 Basketball Bundesliga received a bye and move on to the round of 16. The 2018–19 ProA was the 12th season of the ProA, the second level of basketball in Germany. The champions and the runners-up of the play-offs were promoted to the 2019–20 Basketball Bundesliga. Hamburg Towers won its first ProA championship after defeating Nürnberg Falcons, which promoted too, in the finals. The Basketball Bundesliga 2014–15 was the 49th season of the Basketball Bundesliga. The regular season started on 2 October 2014 and ended on 3 May 2015. The Playoffs started on 9 May and ended on 21 June 2015. Brose Baskets was the top seed in the regular season. The team also won the title, after it beat Bayern Munich 3–2 in the Finals.
