YeniÅŸehir, Mersin
YeniÅŸehir () is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 139 km2, and its population is 278,961 (2022). It covers the west-central part of the city of Mersin and the adjacent countryside. History Originally a part of Mersin municipality, the municipality of YeniÅŸehir was established in 1993 as a secondary level municipality of Mersin. In 2008 the district YeniÅŸehir was created from part of the former central district of Mersin, along with the districts Mezitli, Toroslar and Akdeniz, Mersin, Akdeniz. At the same time, the former municipality Çiftlikköy was absorbed into the municipality of YeniÅŸehir. At the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation, the rural part of the district was integrated into the municipality, the villages becoming neighbourhoods. The Nevin Yanıt Athletics Complex () also known as Nevin Yanıt Athletics Facility () is a sports venue for athletics (sport), athletics competitions in track and field located in Mersin, Turkey. Description The stadium, situated at Kocavilayet neighborhood of Mersin, was built in 2010, and renamed in February 2011 in honor of the European champion hurdling, hurdler Nevin Yanıt (born 1986), a native of Mersin. Edip Buran Arena
The Edip Buran Arena (), formerly Yenişehir Belediyesi Sports Hall (), is a multi-sport indoor arena at Yenişehir district of Mersin, Turkey. Built in 1971, it is owned by the Youth Services and Sports Directoriate of Mersin. The sports hall has a seating capacity of 1,750. It was renovated for the 2013 Mediterranean Games, and the new sports hall went on January 20, 2013, in service. The venue is suitable for events of basketball, fencing, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling etc. With the promotion of Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi men's basketball team's to Turkish Basketball League in the 2005–06 season, the sports hall became a basketball league venue.
