Walter Adams (Australian Politician)
Walter Adams (1830–1892) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Walter Adams was born on 22 November 1830 in Yeovil, Somersetshire, England. He was educated at a private school at Somerton nearby. He arrived in Sydney, New South Wales in September 1849, where he worked as a blacksmith with his brothers Edward and James. Adam moved to Wide Bay in Queensland in 1853 where he resided in Maryborough and continued to work as a blacksmith. While in Maryborough, he established a machinery business a contracting business. He also owned a sugar cane farm in the Somerville area. Politics While living in Maryborough, Adams served as an alderman in the Maryborough Town Council and was chairman of its Works Committee. Mulgrave is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district in its present form is a narrow coastal strip running from the southern suburbs of Cairns at its northern end to Innisfail at its southern end. Mulgrave also includes the towns of Gordonvale and Babinda. The electorate was first created for the 1950 election. There was an earlier district also called Mulgrave that existed from 1873 to 1888. The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (abbreviated RPAH or RPA) is a major public teaching hospital in Sydney, Australia, located on Missenden Road in Camperdown. The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. George Hall, M.L.C., (2 March 1811 – 28 January 1867) often styled "Captain Hall", was a South Australian shipping agent, company director and politician. He was born at Bromley, Kent and left school at an early age to become a merchant seaman, and later captained ships on the East Indian and West Indian trade routes. His involvement with the South Australian Company began when David McLaren, manager of the South Australian Company, controversially contracted him to transport goods for the Company from Singapore to Port Adelaide in the "Guiana", becoming, on 7 October 1840, the first to unload goods at the new wharf. Bundaberg is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in central Queensland, Australia. It covers the city of Bundaberg, as well as the immediate surrounding area. History The electoral district of Bundaberg was created by the ''Electoral Districts Act of 1887'' which abolished the electoral district of Mulgrave that had included the Bundaberg area. The first election held in the seat of Bundaberg was the 1888 election. The city's urban population has long made the seat a Labor stronghold. This changed in 2005 when the practices of rogue surgeon Jayant Patel at the Bundaberg Base Hospital were uncovered.
