Mulgrave is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district in its present form is a narrow coastal strip running from the southern suburbs of Cairns at its northern end to Innisfail at its southern end. Mulgrave also includes the towns of Gordonvale and Babinda Babinda is a rural town and locality in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. Curtis Pitt
Curtis Warren Pitt (born 1 February 1977) is an Australian politician who has been a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland since 2009, representing the district of Mulgrave. On 14 February 2015, he was sworn in as Treasurer of Queensland. He was later elected Speaker of the Queensland Legislative Assembly on 13 February 2018, the first sitting day after the 2017 Queensland state election. Early life Pitt was born in Cairns in Far North Queensland and raised in Gordonvale. He attended Gordonvale Primary School, Gordonvale High School, and completed his secondary education at St Mary's College in Woree. Bundaberg is a city in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia, and is the tenth largest city in the state. Bundaberg's regional area has a population of 70,921, and is a major centre of the Wide Bay–Burnett geographical region. Naomi Wilson
Naomi Kate Wynn Wilson (born 27 January 1940) is a former teacher and Tanzanian-born Australian politician, who was a National Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1995 to 1998, as which she represented the district of Mulgrave. Wilson is the daughter of the Welsh Anglican Bishop of Central Tanganyika, William (Bill) Wynn Jones, and of Ruth L. Minton Taylor, and the great-granddaughter of the former senator and Premier of Tasmania, Henry Dobson. Wilson was born in Arusha in Tanganyika (now Tanzania). Wilson was a Mulgrave Shire councillor from 1991 to 1995. Wilson entered state parliament at the 1995 state election by defeating incumbent Labor Party MP Warren Pitt for the seat of Mulgrave. Warren Pitt
Frederick Warren Pitt (born 14 March 1948) is an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 1995 and 1998 to 2009. Early life Born in Cairns, Pitt was a school teacher before entering politics. He underwent national service and was an army reservist from 1969 to 1975 and was active in the local community, being recognised as Mulgrave Shire Citizen of the Year in 1983. Political career Pitt was elected to state parliament as the member for Mulgrave at the 1989 state election defeating sitting National Party MP Max Menzel. Max Richard Menzel (born 30 March 1941) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Tully in Queensland to Richard Franz Menzel and Dulcie Margaret, ''née'' Kelly on the 30th of March 1941. He had an Uncle Albert "Bill" Menzel whose whereabouts are unknown, his father had other siblings who are believed to now be deceased and lived in Germany where Max's father and Uncle immigrated from to Australia around the 1900s to 1920s. Roy Alexander Armstrong (14 January 1914 – 26 April 1991 ) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Armstrong was born in Warwick, Queensland, the son of Samuel John Armstrong and his wife Ann Isabel (née Hall) and was educated at Warwick State School. Carlisle Wordsworth
Carlisle Favell Wordsworth (21 October 1908 – 7 May 1960) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Wordsworth was born in Mount Molloy, Queensland, the son of Arthur John Wordsworth and his wife Lillian Justitia (née Carlisle). He was educated at Gordonvale State School and did night classes at Cairns High School before starting his working career as a locomotive fireman and engine driver at the Mulgrave Central Mill from 1923 until 1925. He then worked at the Mulgrave Cooperative Sugar Mill from 1929 until 1940 at which time he joined the Second Australian Imperial Force, working as a liaison officer with the United States army. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of major and after working for the International Boring Company as a traveler he was an industrial advocate for the Queensland Cane Growers Association and District Secretary of the Cairns Cane Growers Association. Queensland Labor Party
The Queensland Labor Party (QLP) was a political party of Queensland, Australia formed in 1957 by a breakaway group of the then ruling Labor Party Government after the expulsion of Premier Vince Gair. In 1962 the party became the Queensland section of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP). The party continued to hold seats in the Queensland state parliament until 1972, then suffered a collapse in its vote and wound itself up in 1978. Walter Adams (1830–1892) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Walter Adams was born on 22 November 1830 in Yeovil, Somersetshire, England. He was educated at a private school at Somerton nearby. He arrived in Sydney, New South Wales in September 1849, where he worked as a blacksmith with his brothers Edward and James.
