WSKS (97.9 FM) and WSKU (105.5 FM) are radio stations simulcasting a (CHR) format. Licensed to Whitesboro, New York and Little Falls, New York, the stations serve the Utica-Rome area and are currently owned by Roser Communications Network. History WSKU signed on the air in 1990 as WOWB-FM, 105.5 (WOW 105), licensed to Little Falls. The station was licensed to Towpath Communications Limited as an adult-contemporary station and after a brief stint as "B105" became "Wow 105". The station was soon sold to the Professional Broadcasting Corporation (a joint venture of Frank DuRoss and Ken Roser), who added a simulcast on WOWZ at 97.9 FM in September 1994. Licensed to Whitesboro, it was the first allocation of 97.9 in the Utica market. The resulting simulcast was identified as Wow-FM. WOWZ/WOWB became a Top 40 Rhythmic Station in December 1996. Little Falls (city), New York
Little Falls is a city in Herkimer County, New York. The population was 4,946 at the time of the 2010 census, which is the second-smallest city population in the state, ahead of only the city of Sherrill. The city is built on both sides of the Mohawk River, at a point at which rapids had impeded travel upriver. Transportation through the valley was improved by construction of the Erie Canal, completed in 1825 and connecting the Great Lakes with the Hudson River. The city is located at the northeastern corner of the town of Little Falls and is east of Utica. It is licensed to Amsterdam, New York, and is owned by Roser Communications Network, Inc. WVTL's radio studios and offices are in Florida, New York. Whitesboro, New York
Whitesboro is a village in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 3,772 at the 2010 census. The village is named after Hugh White, an early settler. The Village of Whitesboro is inside the Town of Whitestown. History The village began to be settled in 1784, and was incorporated in 1813. An 1851 list gave the name ''Che-ga-quat-ka'' for Whitesboro in a language of the Iroquois people. The abolitionist Oneida Institute was located in Whitesboro from 1827 to 1843. The older part of the village was bordered by the Erie Canal and the village's Main Street. When the canal was filled in the first half of the 20th century, Oriskany Boulevard was built over the filled-in canal. The streets that connect the two roads form the oldest part of the village. The station is currently owned by the Educational Media Foundation, and is an affiliate of the '' K-Love'' network.
