Thomas Whitefield Bentley (July 5, 1884 – June 12, 1952) was a life insurance company manager and political figure on Prince Edward Island Prince Edward Island is an island Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Canada. He was a branch manager for the Maritime Life Assurance Company; after he retired in 1952, he was rehired by the company as provincial supervisor. George Bentley (politician)
George Whitefield Whitlock Bentley (December 1, 1842 – April 8, 1909) was a merchant, farmer and political figure in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He represented 4th Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1879 to 1893 as a Conservative member. Born in Margate, Prince Edward Island, he was the son of Thomas Bentley and Hannah Smith, and was educated there. In 1870, he married Emma Jane Dennis. He served on the Executive Council as Commissioner of Public Works from 1887 to 1890 and as Provincial Secretary-treasurer and Commissioner of Crown Lands from 1890 to 1891. He was defeated when he ran for re-election in 1893. Kensington, Prince Edward Island
Kensington is a Canadian town located in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is northeast of the city of Summerside. In 2021, its population was 1,812 and is seeing rapid growth thanks in part to a recently opened business park. History The area was first known as Five Lanes End, as roads from five different communities converged at the point. It was renamed Barrett's Cross in 1824 after an early settler who established an inn in the area. In 1862, the town was renamed after Kensington Palace in London and it became a town after the Prince Edward Island Railway's mainline from Charlottetown to Summerside curved through the community. Prince Edward Island Hospital
The Prince Edward Island Hospital is a former acute care hospital that was located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. It was the first public general hospital established in the province and the largest such facility throughout its history. The facility was established by the provincial government on January 28, 1884 on a property known as "Haszard House" located at present-day 24-36 Longworth Avenue in the northeast part of the city. The Prince Edward Island Hospital was predated by the Charlottetown Hospital, which was established in 1879 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlottetown. The city's residents demanded that the government open "a general" hospital that was not affiliated with a religious body. As such, the Prince Edward Island Hospital was frequently referred to as the "Protestant" hospital, however the facility was secular and had no affiliation with a religious denomination. Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Queens County.
