WTA Elite Trophy
The WTA Elite Trophy (also known as the Huafa Technology WTA Elite Trophy for sponsorship reasons) was the second-tier year-end professional women's tennis tournament on the WTA Tour. It was the successor event of the different format WTA Tournament of Champions, which took place from 2009–14. The Elite Trophy took place at the end of each season, in two disciplines: singles and doubles. The singles event featured 12 players (11 of them ranked from 9th to 19th on the final table of the WTA ranking, and one wildcard). The players were split into four groups of three, with the group winners advancing to the single elimination semifinals. The doubles event featured six teams in two groups with the group winners contesting the final. The inaugural edition was held in 2015, offering $2.15 million in prize money. The 2021 WTA Tour was the elite professional tennis circuit organised by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for the 2021 tennis season. 2020 WTA Elite Trophy
The 2020 WTA Elite Trophy was a women's tennis tournament to be played at the Hengqin International Tennis Center in Zhuhai, China. It was supposed to be the sixth edition of the singles event and doubles competition with 12 singles players and six doubles teams contesting the event. However, on 23 July 2020, the tournament was cancelled due to the decision by China's General Administration of Sport that China would not host any international sporting events in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wang Qiang (; ; born 14 January 1992) is a Chinese tennis player. On 9 September 2019, Wang achieved her highest singles ranking of world No. 12, becoming the third-highest ranked Chinese tennis player in history after Li Na and Zheng Qinwen. She has won two singles titles on the WTA Tour, one WTA Challenger singles title, and 14 singles titles and one doubles title on the ITF Circuit.
