Vít Kárník (5 October 1926 in Prague – 31 January 1994 in Prague) was a Czech geophysicist and seismologist. He and Wilhelm Sponheuer developed the Medvedev–Sponheuer–Karnik scale The Medvedev–Sponheuer–Karnik scale, also known as the MSK or MSK-64, is a macroseismic intensity scale used to evaluate the severity of ground shaking on the basis of observed effects in an area where an earthquake transpires. Vít Přindiš (born 14 April 1989) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2005. He won seven medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with three golds (K1: 2022, K1 team: 2017, 2023), three silvers (K1: 2017, K1 team: 2014, 2019) and a bronze (K1 team: 2018). He also won 16 medals (12 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze) at the European Canoe Slalom Championships, including a bronze medal in kayak cross at the 2023 European Games in Kraków. Vit Klemes (born Vít Klemeš; 30 April 1932, Podivín – 8 March 2010) was a Canadian hydrologist of Czech origin. Biography Klemes received a Civil Engineering degree (Ing) from the Brno University of Technology, a CSc degree (a local equivalent of PhD) in hydrology and water resources from the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and a DrSc degree from the Czech Technical University in Prague. Following the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia, Klemes and his family came to Canada in September 1968. There he obtained a position of associate professor at the University of Toronto, first in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and later in the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Engineering.
