UCC Demons
UCC Demons are an Irish basketball team based in Cork. The team competes in the Super League and plays its home games at Mardyke Arena. The team is a division of Blue Demons Basketball Club and is directly associated with the University College Cork. History Early years In 1959, a youth club known as De Paul Boys Club was established in Sunday's Well, Cork as a means for boys to play indoor sports between September and April. In 1966, a men's team entered the senior ranks of Cork Basketball. The team was built off the basis of De Paul, with most of the players in the inaugural team having come through the juvenile level with De Paul. Thus, Blue Demons Basketball Club was established. The name "Blue Demons" was the preferred choice as it was the nickname of the DePaul University college basketball team in Chicago, who were very generous in their support of the fledgling De Paul Boys Club. Super League (Ireland)
The Super League (formerly known as SuperLeague and Premier League) is the top-tier men's basketball league in Ireland. The league has 13 teams (12 in the Republic of Ireland and one in Northern Ireland). The league is an active member of Basketball Ireland, which is recognised by FIBA (also known as the International Basketball Federation) as the national governing body for basketball in Ireland. Colin O'Reilly
Colin O'Reilly (born 30 January 1984) is an Irish basketball coach and former player. He played Division III college basketball for Post University in the United States in the early 2000s and later represented the Irish national team as both a player and as a player-coach. Early life O'Reilly was born in Cork, Ireland. Professional career On 26 March 2015, O'Reilly was named an inaugural Premier League All-Star First Pick alongside UCC Demons teammates Kyle Hosford and Lehmon Colbert. Three days later, he helped Demons create Irish basketball history by winning the Champions Trophy and adding to their undefeated 2014–15 season. Seventh Day'Vonte Woods (born August 7, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Zamora Jaguars of the Liga Ecuatoriana de Baloncesto. He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels, South Carolina Gamecocks and Morgan State Bears. Early life Woods was born on August 7, 1998, in Columbia, South Carolina. Damian Matacz
Damian Richard Matacz (born 28 February 1979) is an Australian former professional basketball player. He played four seasons of college basketball in the United States for Northern Michigan University and played 18 seasons for the Joondalup Wolves in the State Basketball League (SBL). He won two SBL championships in 2011 and 2015 and was named the SBL Most Valuable Player in 2012. He also had two short stints in the National Basketball League (NBL) and played in New Zealand, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. He represented the Irish national team in 2008. Lehmon Colbert
Lehmon Colbert Jr. (born April 14, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Jacksonville Dolphins before playing professionally in England, Mexico and Ireland. With UCC Demons in the Irish Super League, he won two championships and multiple other trophies and was the league's Player of the Year in 2016. Between 2018 and 2020, he played for Neptune and served as player-coach in his second season. Early life Colbert was born and raised in the state of Georgia. He initially leaned towards baseball before his height and strength saw him gravitate towards basketball. High school career Colbert attended Crawford County High School in Roberta, Georgia.
