Toumour
Toumour is a village and rural commune in Niger located near the Niger–Nigeria border. As of 2011, the commune had a total population of 1336 people. On September 4, 2016, clashes near the village killed at least 30 Boko Haram militants and five soldiers. The armed forces said Boko Haram attacked their military post on March 15, 2020, which they responded to by repelling the attack, killing 50 insurgents. 2020 Toumour Attacks
On 15 March and 12 December 2020, jihadist group Boko Haram carried out attacks in Toumour, Diffa Region Diffa is one of the seven Regions of Niger, located in the southeast of the country. Diffa is one of the seven Regions of Niger, located in the southeast of the country. The capital of the region is Diffa. Geography Diffa Region is situated in the extreme southeast of Niger between 10° 30’ and 15° 35’ longitude East and 13° 04’ and 18° 00’ latitude North. It covers 156 906 km², and it borders Agadez Region to the north, Chad to the east, Nigeria to the south, and Zinder Region to the west. Boko Haram Insurgency
The Boko Haram insurgency began in July 2009, when the militant Islamist and jihadist rebel group Boko Haram started an armed rebellion against the government of Nigeria. The conflict is taking place within the context of long-standing issues of religious violence between Nigeria's Muslim and Christian communities, and the insurgents' ultimate aim is to establish an Islamic state in the region. Boko Haram's initial uprising failed, and its leader Mohammed Yusuf was killed by the Nigerian government. He began the group in the year 2002, with a view of opposing western education with his followers. The Niger–Nigeria border is in length and runs from the tripoint with Benin in the west to the tripoint with Chad in the east. Description The border starts in the west at Beninese tripoint in the Niger river, then proceeds overland in a northwards direction, before turning eastwards in a broad arc. Boko Haram
Boko Haram, officially known as ''Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād'' ( ar, جماعة أهل السنة للدعوة والجهاد, lit=Group of the People of Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad), is an Islamic terrorist organization based in northeastern Nigeria, which is also active in Chad, Niger, and northern Cameroon.
