Transperth SmartRider Card
Transperth is the public transport system for Perth and surrounding areas in Western Australia. It is managed by the Public Transport Authority (PTA), a state government organisation, and consists of train, bus and ferry services. Bus operations are contracted out to Swan Transit, Path Transit and Transdev. Ferry operations are contracted out to Captain Cook Cruises. Train operations are done by the PTA through their Transperth Train Operations division. The Transperth train system consists of eight lines: the Airport, Armadale, Ellenbrook, Fremantle, Mandurah, Midland, Thornlie–Cockburn, and Yanchep lines; and 85 stations. Train services have operated since 1881. The Transperth bus system has over 1,499 buses and 51 bus stations, 38 of which are interchanges at railway stations. Transperth B-series Train
The B-series trains are a class of electric multiple unit built by Downer Rail in Maryborough, Queensland for Transperth Train Operations, Transperth between 2004 and 2019. Design Each set consists of three semi-permanently coupled cars designed to be used in either a three-car or six-car formation. The trains were designed to use AC motors rather than DC traction motors like the previous Transperth A-series train, A-series, and to have a maximum service speed of . In each set, IGBT inverters power eight AC traction motors distributed along the three cars, providing a 66% motorised unit. These trains are similar in design to Queensland Rail's Interurban multiple unit#160 series, IMU160/Suburban multiple unit#260 series, SMU260 EMU, V/Line VLocity DMU, and Adelaide Metro 4000 class EMU trains. Wundowie, Western Australia
Wundowie is a town in Western Australia located between Perth and Northam in the Darling Range. It was the location of an iron works, and siding and stopping place on the Eastern Railway. It was named in 1907 and was a siding on the Chidlow to Northam section of the railway. The origin of the name is from nearby Woondowing Spring which is an Aboriginal word thought to come from Ngwundow, meaning "to lie down". Following the decision of the government to construct the blast furnace and wood distillation plant (to produce charcoal) in 1943 at Wundowie, plans were made to develop the townsite. Lots were surveyed in 1946 and the town was gazetted in 1947. The design of the town was based on the concepts of the garden city movement of town planning. This is reflected in its street pattern, subdivision layout, location of land uses, open space and the civic core of the town. Perth Metropolitan Area
The Perth metropolitan region or the Perth metropolitan area is the administrative area and geographical extent of the Western Australian capital city of Perth and its conurbation. Two Rocks
Two Rocks is a town in Western Australia, located northwest of the Perth central business district. It is part of the City of Wanneroo local authority and represents the furthest northern extent of the Perth metropolitan region. While the suburb has a large area, at the 2001 census the suburb's entire population was recorded living within a region near the coast surrounding Two Rocks marina. However in more recent years residential development has spread to areas to the east and south-east of the established suburb. Large sections of the suburb are fenced off due to unexploded ordnance left behind from past military activity in the area. Yanchep Line
The Yanchep line, formerly the Joondalup line, is a suburban railway line and service in Perth, Western Australia, linking the city's central business district (CBD) with its northern suburbs. Operated by the Public Transport Authority as part of the Transperth system, the Yanchep line is long and has sixteen stations. It commences in a tunnel under the Perth CBD as a through service with the Mandurah line. North from there, the line enters the median strip of the Mitchell Freeway, where nine of the line's stations are. The Yanchep line diverges from the freeway to serve the centre of Joondalup and permanently leaves the freeway north of Butler for the northernmost four stations to Yanchep. Thornlie–Cockburn Line
The Thornlie–Cockburn line is a suburban railway line and service in Perth, Western Australia, operated by the Public Transport Authority (Western Australia), Public Transport Authority as part of the Transperth system. The line branches from the Armadale line in Kenwick, Western Australia, Kenwick and heads south-west on a route alongside the Kwinana freight railway and the Kwinana Freeway to Cockburn Central, Western Australia, Cockburn Central. Armadale Line
The Armadale line is a partially-closed suburban railway service in Perth, Western Australia, operated by the Public Transport Authority as part of the Transperth system. The Armadale line is long, and starts at Perth station, heading south-east of there to serve Perth's south-eastern suburbs, terminating at Armadale station. Since June 2025, the line has been closed from Beckenham Station to Armadale for the Rail Revitalisation Program and Byford extension with services operating between Perth and Cannington, as Beckanham is only being serviced by Thornlie-Cockburn Line services.
