Transmash, Tikhvin
Titran-Express () is a company based in Tikhvin in Leningrad Oblast, Russia. Throughout the plants history it has been associated with metal mechanical engineering, and manufacture of components for large-scale transportation equipment such as bogies for rail vehicles, tank tracks or tractor parts. In 1963 the Centrolit (Центролит) casting plant was founded, further developments in the 1960s included a subsidiary supply factory of the Kirov factory; both concerns were merged as a subsidiary of the Kirov plant in the 1970s. The company was privatised as JSC Transmash in 1993; after financial difficulties and severe jobs losses in the post-Soviet era, the whole site was acquired by the ICT Group in 2001, renamed Titran and redeveloped. Poor demand led to an end to tractor production in 2003. Tikhvin (; Veps: ) is a town and the administrative center of Tikhvinsky District in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, located on both banks of the Tikhvinka River in the east of the oblast, east of St. Petersburg. The Kirov Plant, Kirov factory or Leningrad Kirov plant (LKZ) () is a major Russian mechanical engineering and agricultural machinery manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg, Russia. It was established in 1789, then moved to its present site in 1801 as a foundry for Round shot, cannonballs. The ICT Group (), also spelt IST Group, was an investment venture based and operated in Russia from 1991 until 2013. The ICT ('Investments, Construction, Technologies') Group, founded by Alexander Nesis and his partners in the early 1990s, for years used to be one of the largest privately owned investment and industrial companies in Russia. Tikhvin Ferroalloy Plant
Tikhvin Ferroalloy Plant () is a company based in Tikhvin, Russia. History In 1994, a company was established to construct a $110 million manufacturing plant capable of producing 140,000 tonnes of ferrochromium and 150,000 tonnes of crushed residue per year. A 1997 referendum in Tikhvin opposed the establishment of the plant, but after acquiring the unfinished project in 2001, ICT Group announced its intention to complete its construction. The opening of the plant remains contentious. It is seen as an example of government collusion with big business. The Tikhvin Ferroalloy Plant finally began production in 2007. A low world demand for ferrochromium delayed the factory's ramp-up to full production, with two furnaces started in 2007 and another two in 2008. Joint Stock Company “Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant ” (TVSZ) is a Russian freight car manufacturer, the largest in the CIS. Launched in January 2012, Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant is the main production facility of Research and production corporation “ United Wagon Company”. Sokol (train)
Sokol (Сокол, Russian language, Russian for "falcon") was a planned high-speed rail, high-speed train in Russia. It was to be a successor of the ER200 for use on the Moscow – Saint Petersburg Railway, Moscow–St. Petersburg mainline, and was designed to operate at a cruising speed of 250 km/h. A prototype was built in 2000 and tested by Russian High Speed Railway Shareholding Co. The Sokol project was cancelled in 2002. Instead of a Sokol-based design, high speed trainsets (named ''Sapsan'') based on the Siemens Velaro were procured from Siemens in Germany.
