Thelma Dís Ágústsdóttir
Thelma Dís Ágústsdóttir (born 30 September 1998) is an Icelandic basketball player for Keflavík of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna. She played college basketball for Ball State Cardinals women's basketball, Ball State University. Thelma won the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Icelandic championship and the Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup, Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2017 when she was named the Úrvalsdeild Women's Domestic Player of the Year, Úrvalsdeild kvenna Domestic Player of the Year. In 2024, she was named the Icelandic Basketball Player of the Year, Icelandic Female Basketball Player of the Year. Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (basketball)
Úrvalsdeild kvenna (English: Women's Premier League), known as Bónus deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administered by the Körfuknattleikssamband Íslands, Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). The league was known as the ''Subway deild kvenna'' from 2021 to 2024. In July 2024, supermarket chain Bónus became the primary sponsor. The 2020–21 Úrvalsdeild kvenna is the 64th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland. The season started on 23 September 2020. On 7 October, the Icelandic Basketball Association postponed the season for two weeks do to another Coronavirus pandemic in Iceland, Coronavirus outbreak in Iceland. It concluded on 2 June 2021 with Valur women's basketball, Valur winning their second title after beating Haukar women's basketball, Haukar 3–0 in the Úrvalsdeild finals. Competition format The participating teams first play a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent twice "home" and twice "away" for a total of 28 games.
