The Interstellar Song Contest
"The Interstellar Song Contest" is the sixth episode of the Doctor Who series 15, fifteenth series of the British science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It was written by Juno Dawson and directed by Ben A. Williams, and released on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and Disney+ on 17 May 2025, ahead of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 on BBC One. In the episode, the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and his Companion (Doctor Who), companion, Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu), arrive at the Interstellar Song Contest — a futuristic version of the Eurovision Song Contest – where they uncover a plot to kill trillions of people across space headed up by Kid, a member of the Hellion race who seeks to gain revenge for the negative treatment of his species by the Contest's sponsor company. Mizero Ncuti Gatwa ( ; born 15 October 1992) is a Rwandan-Scottish actor. After a screen Breakthrough role, breakthrough portraying Eric Effiong in Sex Education (TV series), ''Sex Education'' (2019–2023), he rose to further prominence as the Fifteenth Doctor in ''Doctor Who'' (2023–2025). He began his career on stage at the Dundee Repertory Theatre and was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award for his performance as Mercutio in a 2014 production of ''Romeo & Juliet'' at HOME (Manchester), HOME. Early life Mizero Ncuti Gatwa was born in Nyarugenge District, Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda, on 15 October 1992. His father, Tharcisse Gatwa, from Rwanda's Karongi District, is a journalist. Gatwa's family escaped from Rwanda during the Rwandan genocide, 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and settled in Scotland. They lived in Oxgangs in Edinburgh, and moved to Dunfermline when he was 15.
