The Tarjeta Transporte Público (TTP; "Public Transport Card") is a payment method for public transport in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and its surrounding autonomous community. Managed by the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid (CRTM), the body responsible for coordinating public transport in the Community of Madrid, as of 2019 more than 16 million TTPs are in circulation. First introduced in 2012, the TTP is a credit card-sized contactless smart card, typically colored red, that can be used to facilitate travel on most modes of public transport in Madrid, including the Madrid Metro, the Metro Ligero, Cercanías Madrid, city buses operated by the Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT), and privately run interurban regional buses managed by CRTM which serve towns and cities throughout the Community of Madrid. The Community of Madrid (; es, Comunidad de Madrid ) is one of the seventeen autonomous communities of Spain. ''ABC'' () is a Spanish national daily newspaper. It is the second largest general-interest newspaper in Spain, number one in Madrid, and the oldest newspaper still operating in Madrid. Navigo Card
The Navigo card (french: links=yes, Carte Navigo), formerly called the Navigo pass, is a means of payment for public transportation introduced on 1 October 2001 in the City of Paris and Île-de-France region. It is implemented as a contactless smart card using the Calypso standard, initially with Radio-frequency identification (RFID), then Near-field communication (NFC) since 9 December 2013, and enables authenticated access at turnstiles by scanning the card at an electronic reader. A stored-value card (SVC) is a payment card with a monetary value stored on the card itself, not in an external account maintained by a financial institution. This means no network access is required by the payment collection terminals as funds can be withdrawn and deposited straight from the card. Like cash, payment cards can be used anonymously as the person holding the card can use the funds. Free public transport, often called fare-free public transit or zero-fare public transport, refers to public transport funded in full by means other than by collecting fares from passengers.
