Taini Jamison Trophy
The Taini Jamison Trophy series is an international netball series hosted by Netball New Zealand. The series traditionally features New Zealand national netball team, New Zealand playing a series of Test match (netball), test matches against a visiting national team. The trophy is named in honour of Taini Jamison, the former New Zealand head coach. New Zealand won the inaugural 2008 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, 2008 series. A World Netball, World 7, Jamaica national netball team, Jamaica and England national netball team, England have also been series winners. Other participants have included South Africa national netball team, South Africa, Malawi national netball team, Malawi, Fiji national netball team, Fiji and Samoa national netball team, Samoa. 2008 Taini Jamison Trophy Series
The 2008 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, also referred to as the New World Series, was the inaugural Taini Jamison Trophy series. It featured New Zealand national netball team, New Zealand playing England national netball team, England in a series of three Test match (netball), netball test matches, played in October 2008. New Zealand won the opening test 65–26. England leveled the series by winning the second test 40–38. New Zealand won the inaugural Taini Jamison Trophy series 2–1 by defeating England 61–22 in the final test. Hammerhead Shark
The hammerhead sharks are a group of sharks that form the family Sphyrnidae, named for the unusual and distinctive form of their heads, which are flattened and laterally extended into a Hammerhead shark#Cephalofoil, cephalofoil (a T-shape or "hammer"). The shark's eyes are placed one on each end of this T-shaped structure, with their small mouths directly centered and underneath. Most hammerhead species are placed in the genus ''Sphyrna'', while the winghead shark is placed in its own genus, ''Eusphyra''. Many different—but not necessarily mutually exclusive—functions have been postulated for the cephalofoil, including sensory reception, manoeuvering, and prey manipulation. Noeline Taurua
Dame Noeline Taurua (born 26 March 1968) is a New Zealand international netball coach and former representative player. She is currently head coach of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns. Early life Taurua was born in Papakura to Kingi and Polly Taurua. Her ancestry is Ngāpuhi on her father's side, and Ngāti Whātua on her mother's side. Taurua is the youngest of five children. She expressed an interest in Athletics in her schooling years. Taurua attended Taupo-nui-a-Tia College. Playing career Taurua was a member of the Silver Ferns from 1993–99. During that time, she won a silver medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and a bronze medal at the 1995 Netball World Championships in Birmingham. 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy Series
The 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, also known as the 2023 Cadbury Netball Series, was the 13th Taini Jamison Trophy series. It featured New Zealand playing England in three netball test matches, played in September 2023. The New Zealand team were coached by Noeline Taurua and captained by Ameliaranne Ekenasio. England were coached by Liana Leota and co-captained by Sophie Drakeford-Lewis and Halimat Adio. Before the series started, England faced criticism from Netball New Zealand and Taurua for selecting an understrength "B team". However they subsequently defeated New Zealand 55–54 in the opening test. New Zealand eventually won the series 2–1. Netball Jamaica is the peak governing body for the sport of netball in Jamaica. 2022 Taini Jamison Trophy Series
The 2022 Taini Jamison Trophy Series, also known as the 2022 Cadbury Netball Series, was the 12th Taini Jamison Trophy series. It featured New Zealand playing Jamaica in two netball test matches, played in September 2022. Both tests were played in Auckland. New Zealand won the opening test 70–45. They then defeated Jamaica 75–35 in the second test to win the series 2–0. The New Zealand team were coached by Noeline Taurua and captained by Ameliaranne Ekenasio. Jamaica were coached by Connie Francis and captained by Shimona Nelson. The series was originally due to start earlier and feature matches played at Hamilton's Globox Arena. However complications with passports and visas saw the Jamaica team's arrival in New Zealand delayed. This also resulted in Jamaica playing a severely under strength team. 2018 Taini Jamison Trophy Series
The 2018 Taini Jamison Trophy Series was the tenth Taini Jamison Trophy series. New Zealand hosted Fiji, Jamaica and Malawi in a full tournament, played in March 2018, at the North Shore Events Centre. It was effectively a warm-up tournament, ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The series was broadcast live on Sky Sport in New Zealand and on Kwesé Sports in Sub-Saharan Africa. It was also streamed live via Facebook. With a team featuring Jhaniele Fowler Reid, Romelda Aiken and Shamera Sterling, Jamaica won their first Taini Jamison Trophy. During the tournament, they twice defeated New Zealand, once in the preliminary rounds and again in the final. Natasha Chokljat
Natasha Chokljat (born 27 April 1979 in Tasmania) is a former Australian netball player. She has played international netball as a member of the Australian national team, and has played in the ANZ Championship for the Melbourne Vixens and the New Zealand side the Southern Steel. However, she has not signed for any club since 2012. She is of Croatian and Serbian descent. Domestic career Chokljat was first called up to the Australian U21 netball team in 1998. After Australian representative Simone McKinnis retired from the Melbourne Phoenix that same year, an opening arose for a talented wing defender to join the Melbourne side in 1999. Chokljat decided to play for Melbourne Phoenix, which won the Commonwealth Bank Trophy in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2005. Julie Fitzgerald
Julie Fitzgerald is a veteran Australian netball coach. Between 1997 and 2007, Fitzgerald served as head coach of Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. She guided Swifts to premierships in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Between 2008 and 2011, she served as head coach of New South Wales Swifts in the ANZ Championship. In 2008, she guided Swifts to the inaugural ANZ Championship title. Between 2014 and 2016, she guided Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic to the Finals Series every year in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Fitzgerald has served as head coach of Giants Netball in Suncorp Super Netball, guiding them to two grand finals and two minor championships.
