Savyolovo
Savyolovo (russian: Савёлово) is a microdistrict of the town of Kimry in Tver Oblast, Russia. It lies on the right bank of the Volga River and is connected to the left-bank part of Kimry by a bridge over the Volga (the longest bridge in Tver Oblast). The expansion of the ancient village of Savyolovo at the beginning of the 20th century was due to the opening there in 1900 of a railway station on a new direct line to Moscow. The station was chiefly intended to serve the town of Kimry, with which Savyolovo eventually merged, on the opposite bank of the river. Railway station The station is the northern terminus of the Savyolovsky suburban railway line from the Savyolovsky Rail Terminal in Moscow via Dmitrov and Taldom. Savyolovsky Suburban Railway Line
The Savyolovsky suburban railway line (russian: Савёловское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven suburban railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas, mostly in Moscow Oblast. The Savyolovsky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the stations in the north, in particular, with the towns of Dolgoprudny, Lobnya, Yakhroma, Dmitrov, Taldom, Dubna, and Kimry. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in Dolgoprudny, Lobnya, Mytishchi, Dmitrov, Dubna, and Taldom in Moscow Oblast, and in Kimrsky District of Tver Oblast. Kimry
Kimry (russian: Ки́мры), formerly Kimra (), is a town in the south of Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the Volga River at its confluence with the Kimrka River, to the east of Tver. Population: History The town was known as Kimra until the beginning of the 20th century; the name is probably of Finnic or Baltic origin. It was first mentioned in 1546 as a selo belonging to Ivan the Terrible. It belonged to Russian Tsars until 1677 and then was given to the Saltykov family. In 1847, the inhabitants bought themselves out, and Kimra quickly developed into a busy shoemaking and trading village on the left bank of the Volga (a boot appears on the town's coat of arms). Savyolovsky Rail Terminal
Savyolovsky station (russian: Савёловский вокза́л, ''Savyolovsky vokzal''), alternatively spelled ''Savyolovskiy'', ''Savelovsky'' or ''Savelovskiy'', is one of the ten main railway stations in the Maryina roshcha District of Moscow. It serves suburban directions north of the city. Its initial name was ''Butyrsky vokzal'' (the station itself is still called ''Moscow Butyrskaya'') because of Butyrskaya Zastava Square, which also gave name to the nearby Butyrka prison. History The station was built from 1897 to 1902, along a long railway to the towns of Kashin, Kalyazin, Uglich, and Rybinsk. Kalyazin
Kalyazin (russian: Каля́зин) is a town and the administrative center of Kalyazinsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Volga River, northeast of Tver, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: History A ''sloboda'' (a settlement for people relieved from paying taxes) appeared on the site of modern Kalyazin in the 12th century. Its importance grew significantly with the foundation of the Makaryevsky Monastery on the opposite bank of the Volga in the 15th century. Kashin (town)
Kashin (russian: Ка́шин) is a town and the administrative center of Kashinsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, located around a rural agricultural area on the Kashinka River (Volga's tributary). Population: 18,000 (1970). History Kashin was first mentioned in a chronicle under the year of 1238, when it was sacked during the Mongol invasion. It was given by Grand Duke Mikhail Yaroslavich as an appanage to his son Vasily, who founded a short-lived dynasty of local princes. Microdistrict, or microraion (russian: микрорайо́н, ''mikrorajón''), is a residential complex—a primary structural element of the residential area construction in the Soviet Union and in some post-Soviet and former Socialist states.
