SpaceX Starshield
Starshield is a business unit of SpaceX creating purpose-built low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites designed to provide new military space capabilities to U.S. and allied governments. Starshield was adapted from the global communications network Starlink but brings additional capabilities such as target tracking, optical and radio reconnaissance, and early missile warning. Primary customers include the Space Development Agency (SDA), National Reconnaissance Office and the United States Space Force. As of 2025, at least 118 Starshield satellites have been launched, with the latest batch of 22 satellites being launched in January 2025 as part of NROL-167. While SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell has indicated that there is little information she is allowed to disclose about Starshield, she has noted "very good collaboration" between the intelligence community and SpaceX on the program. The U.S. Congressional Research Service reports that future satellites in Starshield's pa ...

The United States House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party is a committee of the United States House of Representatives established in the 118th Congress, on January 10, 2023. The committee focuses on American economic and security competition with the People's Republic of China, which is ruled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The committee is chaired by Representative John Moolenaar of Michigan, a member of the Republican Party. History Republicans in Congress tried to introduce a proposal for a committee dedicated to China near the end of the 116th Congress in 2021, abandoning the effort when negotiations between the Republican minority and then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi faltered. A Republican-led China Task Force later emerged under Foreign Affairs Committee ranking member Michael McCaul which, though partisan in nature, introduced hundreds of policy proposals with often robust bipartisan support. Golden Dome (missile Defense System)
The Golden Dome is a proposed multi-layer defense system for the United States, intended to detect and destroy various foreign threats—including Ballistic missile, ballistic, Hypersonic Missile, hypersonic, and Cruise missile, cruise missiles—before they launch or during their flight. The system would employ a global constellation of satellites equipped with both sensors and space-based interceptors. The architecture has been viewed as similar to the Brilliant Pebbles concept of the 1980s. If implemented, it would mark the first time in history that space weapons are maintained in orbit. Overview On January 27, 2025, Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the United States Armed Forces to construct a missile defense system. It has been compared to the Iron Dome air defense system in Israel, as well as the Strategic Defense Initiative, which was proposed by Ronald Reagan in 1983. The White House has called the program both a dome and a shield, potentially misnome ...

Machine Learning
Machine learning (ML) is a field of study in artificial intelligence concerned with the development and study of Computational statistics, statistical algorithms that can learn from data and generalise to unseen data, and thus perform Task (computing), tasks without explicit Machine code, instructions. Within a subdiscipline in machine learning, advances in the field of deep learning have allowed Neural network (machine learning), neural networks, a class of statistical algorithms, to surpass many previous machine learning approaches in performance. ML finds application in many fields, including natural language processing, computer vision, speech recognition, email filtering, agriculture, and medicine. The application of ML to business problems is known as predictive analytics. Statistics and mathematical optimisation (mathematical programming) methods comprise the foundations of machine learning. Data mining is a related field of study, focusing on exploratory data analysi ...
