Sol Mercado
Solomon Jemuel Rayos Mercado (born May 6, 1984) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as the "Sol-Train", he had an impressive PBA rookie season and eventually became a reliable point guard for most of the teams he played for. Professional career Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Mercado was originally drafted by the Alaska Aces as the fifth pick in the 2008 PBA draft. However, he was immediately traded to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, together with Eddie Laure for Joe Devance and the 2009 and 2010 second round picks of Alaska. With all the focus on Gabe Norwood, that year's first pick overall, and not much hype Mercado scored a record 29 points in his rookie debut game, the highest since Asi Taulava scored 32 points for Mobiline in his winning debut. Barangay Ginebra San Miguel
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The most popular team in the league, it is owned by Ginebra San Miguel, Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. (formerly, La Tondeña Distillers, Inc.), a subsidiary of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the San Miguel Beermen. 2012 PBA All-Star Weekend
The 2012 PBA All-Star Weekend was the annual all-star weekend of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2011–12 PBA season. The events were held from May 10 to 13, 2012 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag, Ilocos Norte. Highlighting the weekend was the return of the Rookies-Sophomores-Juniors (RSJ) vs. Veterans format of the All-Star game, after being dropped following the 2001 event. The Air21 Express was a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) that debuted in the 2011–12 PBA season, 2011–12 season. The team debuted as the Shopinas.com Clickers during the 2011–12 PBA Philippine Cup. Jay-R Reyes
Jay-R C. Reyes (born July 16, 1984) is a Filipino former professional basketball player who last played for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters of the Philippine Basketball Association. Professional career Reyes was the youngest player in the 2006–07 PBA season at only 22 years of age. He played 35 games and he averaged 12.51 points per game, 1.57 blocks per game and 8.89 rebounds per game. He was one of the rookies who led the PBA in the top ten in the rebound category. 2011 PBA Commissioner's Cup
The 2011 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup was the second conference of the 2010–11 PBA season. The tournament began on February 18 and ended on May 8, 2011. The tournament was an import-laden format, which requires an import or a pure-foreign player for each team and with a height limit of 6-foot-4. Defending 2002 champions Barako Bull Energy Boosters took a leave of absence during this conference. Replacing them was the Smart Gilas Philippine national team. The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, or simply known as the Magnolia Hotshots, are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team is owned by San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The Powerade Tigers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 2002 to 2012. The franchise was owned by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) when the company acquired Cosmos Bottling Corporation from RFM Corporation. From 2002 to 2010, the team played as the Coca-Cola Tigers. Pauliasi Taulava (born March 2, 1973) is a Tongan-born Filipino former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Standing 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) tall and weighing 245 pounds (111 kg), Taulava is considered by many to be one of the greatest and most dominant Filipino basketball players to ever play the center position in the PBA. Throughout his 24-year career in the league, Taulava has used his size and strength to overpower opponents for points and rebounds. Joe Calvin Devance Jr. (born February 19, 1982) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player. He won 12 championships over the course of his career with the Alaska Aces, the Magnolia franchise and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Eddie Laure
Eddie Bicoy Laure (born July 6, 1977) is a Filipino former professional basketball player and politician. Known by many as The Dominator and more recently, The Bounty Hunter for his daring and stunning ability to search and get loose balls on the court, he is a former MBA MVP. Amateur career Laure played for the Adamson Falcons in the UAAP from 1994 to 1997 alongside future PBA superstars Kenneth Duremdes and Marlou Aquino.
