Skipsfjorden, Senja
Skipsfjorden is a branch of the Torskenfjorden in Senja Municipality on the western coast of the large island of Senja in Troms county, Norway. The mouth of the fjord lies between Selneset on the west and Galgeneset on the east. The fjord runs about in a roughly eastwards direction to Skipsfjordbotn. The village of Torsken is located at Selneset at the mouth of the fjord. The mountain Skipstinden lies on the north side of the fjord and it climbs steeply to above sea level although its highest peak ( above sea level) lies a little to the northeast of the inlet. Troms (; ; ; ) is a Counties of Norway, county in northern Norway. It borders Finnmark county to the northeast and Nordland county in the southwest. Fjord
In physical geography, a fjord (also spelled fiord in New Zealand English; ) is a long, narrow sea inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by a glacier. Fjords exist on the coasts of Antarctica, the Arctic, and surrounding landmasses of the northern and southern hemispheres. Norway's coastline is estimated to be long with its nearly 1,200 fjords, but only long excluding the fjords. Formation A true fjord is formed when a glacier cuts a U-shaped valley by ice segregation and abrasion of the surrounding bedrock. Torsken (village)
or is a village in Senja Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located along the Torskenfjorden on the southwestern part of the Senja (island), island of Senja. The Skipsfjorden, Torsken, Skipsfjorden branches off the main fjord just east of the village. The historic Torsken Church is located in this village. There is one road into the village, from the nearby village of Gryllefjord. The village had a population (2019) of 208 and a population density of . Senja Municipality
Senja is a municipality in Troms county, Norway. It was established on 1 January 2020 when the municipalities of Berg, Lenvik, Torsken, and Tranøy were merged into one municipality. It is located in the traditional district of Hålogaland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Finnsnes. Senja (island)
or is an island in Senja Municipality in Troms county, Norway in northern Europe. With an area of , it is the List of islands of Norway by area, second largest island in Norway (outside of the Svalbard archipelago). It has a wild, mountainous outer (western) side facing the Atlantic, and a mild and lush inner (eastern) side.
