Troms
Troms (; ; ; ) is a Counties of Norway, county in northern Norway. It borders Finnmark county to the northeast and Nordland county in the southwest. Norrbotten Län in Sweden is located to the south and further southeast is a shorter border with Lapland (Finland), Lapland Province in Finland. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean). The county had a population of 169,610 in 2024. The entire county, which was established in 1866, is located north of the Arctic Circle. The Troms County Municipality is the governing body for the county, elected by the people of Troms, while the Troms County governor (Norway), county governor is a representative of the King of Norway, King and Government of Norway. From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023 Troms was merged with the neighboring Finnmark county to create the new Troms og Finnmark county. Troms Og Finnmark
Troms og Finnmark (; ; ; ) was a county in northern Norway that existed from 2020 to 2023. The county was established on 1 January 2020 as the result of a regional reform. It was the largest county by area in Norway, encompassing about , and was formed by the merger of the former Finnmark and Troms counties in addition to Tjeldsund Municipality from Nordland county. The administrative centre of the county was split between two towns. The political and administrative offices were based in the city of Tromsø (the seat of the old Troms county). The county governor was based in the town of Vadsø (the seat of the old Finnmark county). The two towns are about apart, approximately a 10-hour drive by car. Northern Norway
Northern Norway (, , ; ) is a geographical region of Norway, consisting of the three northernmost counties Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, in total about 35% of the Norwegian mainland. Troms County Municipality
Troms County Municipality (, , ) is the regional governing administration of Troms county in northern Norway. It was temporarily dissolved from 2020 to 2023 when Finnmark county was merged into Troms og Finnmark county, but that was undone effective 1 January 2024. It has its administration in the city of Tromsø. It consists of a 37-member county council led by a county mayor. Elisabeth Vik Aspaker (born 16 October 1962) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party and she is the current county governor of Troms og Finnmark county. She was also the Minister of European Affairs from 2015 to 2016 and Minister for Nordic Cooperation from 2013 to 2016. From 2013 to 2015, she also served as Minister of Fisheries. Counties Of Norway
There are 15 counties in Norway. The 15 county, counties are administrative division, administrative regions that are the first-level administrative divisions of Norway. The counties are further subdivided into 357 municipalities of Norway, municipalities (). The island territories of Svalbard and Jan Mayen are outside the county divisions and they are ruled directly from the national level. The capital city of Oslo is both a county and a municipality. Knut Werner Hansen (born 22 November 1951) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He served as a deputy representative to the Storting from Troms between 1997 and 2009.
