Sinop Province
Sinop Province ( tr, Sinop ili ; el, Σινώπη, ''Sinopi'') is a province of Turkey, along the Black Sea. It is located between 41 and 42 degrees North latitude and between 34 and 35 degrees East longitude. The surface area is 5,862 km2, equivalent to 0.8% of Turkey's surface area. The borders total 475 km and consists of 300 km of land and 175 km seaside borders. Its adjacent provinces are Kastamonu on the west, Çorum on the south, and Samsun on the southeast. The provincial capital is the city of Sinop. Samsun Province ( tr, Samsun ili) is a province of Turkey on the Black Sea coast with a population of 1,252,693 (2010). Its adjacent provinces are Sinop on the northwest, Çorum on the west, Amasya on the south, Tokat on the southeast on the east. Its traffic code is 55. Durağan
Durağan is a town and district of Sinop Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. The town is at the location where Kızıl River joins its tributary the Gök just before crossing the last mountain range northwards to the Black Sea. Rice farming in the fertile river valley has been the engine of economical activity of the town. The construction of two dams ( Boyabat Dam (2012), Altınkaya Dam (1988)) have given Durağan two lakes instead of rice fields. The name of the town is an altered version of the name of a building from 13th century for overnight stay of caravans, Durak Han, literally "station house" in Turkish. Boyabat
Boyabat is a town and district of Sinop Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. The mayor is Mehmet Ermiş ( AKP). Boyabat has a population of 50,000 in the town itself. The town is in the Gökırmak ("blue river") valley, a river valley parallel to the Black Sea coast, located 100 km south of Sinop over the coastal mountain range, Isfendiyar Mountains.
