Shivraj Patil
Shivraj Patil (born 12 October 1935) is an Indian politician was the Minister of Home Affairs of India, from 2004 to 2008 and 10th Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996. He was Governor of the state of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh from 2010 to 2015. Previously, he served in the Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi cabinets as Minister of Defence during the 1980s. Patil resigned from the post of Home Minister on 30 November 2008, following widespread criticism raised after 2008 Mumbai attacks, and took moral responsibility for the security lapse that led to the attacks. Early life Patil was born on 12 October 1935 in the village of Chakur in the Latur district ( Marathwada region) of the then princely state of Hyderabad, now Maharashtra, India. Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh (26 May 1945 – 14 August 2012) was an Indian politician who served as the 14th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, first term from 18 October 1999 to 16 January 2003 and second term, from 1 November 2004 to 5 December 2008. The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (ISO: ''Mahārāṣṭra Vidhāna Sabhā'') is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Maharashtra state in western India. Vasantrao Banduji Patil (13 November 1917 – 1 March 1989) was an Indian politician from Sangli, Maharashtra. He was known as the first modern Maratha strongman and first mass leader in Maharashtrian politics. Patil served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 17 May 1977 to 18 July 1978 and again from 2 February 1983 to 1 June 1985. Sadiq Ali (born 1910 in Udaipur in British India, died 2001-17 April) was a freedom fighter. Early life and education He left home at a young age to pursue his studies at Allahabad University and then joined the freedom struggle and was jailed several times. During his studies, he saw the Nehru family in Allahabad closely leading the freedom movement and since then started participating in activities with the Congress in the national movement. He organized a dharna at the Allahabad University to boycott foreign goods and liquor. Then the British government arrested him and sent him to jail. The Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha is the second-highest-ranking authority of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the parliament of India. He acts as the presiding authority in the event of leave or absence caused by the death or illness of the speaker of the Lok Sabha. The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Maharashtra elects 19 seats and they are indirectly elected by the state legislators of Maharashtra.
