Per Gessle
Per Håkan Gessle (; born 12 January 1959) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the male half and primary songwriter of the pop rock duo Roxette, which he formed with Marie Fredriksson in 1986 and which was disbanded after her death in 2019. The duo achieved international success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their albums '' Look Sharp!'' (1988) and '' Joyride'' (1991), and topped the charts in the US four times, most notably with " It Must Have Been Love" which was featured in the film ''Pretty Woman''. Prior to the formation of Roxette, he had a successful career in his native Sweden as the frontman for Gyllene Tider. The band released three number-one albums during the early 1980s but disbanded shortly after their fourth album, '' The Heartland Café'' (1984). Monica Törnell
Monica Kristina Ingeborg Törnell (born 3 June 1954) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She was discovered by Cornelis Vreeswijk in 1971, triggering a career spanning several decades in various genres, mainly folk and rock music. With Lasse Holm, she represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 in Bergen, Norway. She was inducted in to the Swedish Musical Hall of Fame in 2022. Biography Childhood Monica Törnell lived her first years in Trönö, in the Norrala municipality, before moving with her family to Söderhamn, where she began visiting Folkets Park, encountering artists such as Lill-Babs, Jerry Williams, and others. She had her debut public performance before an audience of 700 people at the 1962 Ericsson Christmas party in Söderhamn, where her father Jöns Törnell was an employee, followed by a series of performances in public parks at home. Gun-Marie Fredriksson (; 30 May 1958 – 9 December 2019) was a Swedish singer, songwriter, pianist, and lead vocalist of pop-rock duo Roxette, which she formed in 1986 with Per Gessle. The duo achieved international success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their albums ''Look Sharp! (Roxette album), Look Sharp!'' (1988) and ''Joyride (Roxette album), Joyride'' (1991), and had multiple hits on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, including four number ones. Fredriksson had a successful career in her native country prior to forming Roxette. She was a member of punk rock, punk group Strul, a band which created their own music festival in 1979. ''Per Gessle'' was released on 8 April 1983 and is the debut solo studio album from Swedish pop artist Per Gessle. The album peaked at number five on the Swedish Albums Chart. Before releasing this album, Gessle was already a famous lead vocalist of the Swedish pop band Gyllene Tider. A re-release on CD, released on 1 September 1992, contained three bonus tracks. Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, based on sales data from IFPI Sverige. It was formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and has been known by its current name since October 2007. Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. Anne-Lie Rydé
Anne-Lie Rydé (born 17 October 1956 in Stockholm) is a Swedish pop and rock singer. Early life and Music career Rydé grew up on Lidingö, but moved to Gothenburg in 1976. There she played with the Gothenburg-based band Extra from 1978 to 1983. She moved back to Stockholm in 1983 and broke through as a solo artist that year with the eponymous album "Anne-Lie Rydé." Her first hit was ''"Segla på ett moln"'' (Sail On a Cloud), written by Per Gessle. Anne-Lie Rydé was visually inspired by Punk and Nina Hagen, but musically she played rock. She wrote a number of songs herself. She toured in 1983–84 with Dan Hylander, Py Bäckman and the Raj Montana Band, and in 1985 received a Rockbjörnen and a Karamelodiktstipendiet, a scholarship awarded for innovation in music in Swedish.
