Sandvika () is the administrative centre of the municipality of Bærum in Norway. It was declared a List of cities in Norway, city by the municipal council (Norway), municipal council in Bærum on 4 June 2003. Sandvika is situated approximately west of Oslo. It is the main transportation hub for Western Bærum, and has a combined bus and Sandvika Station, railway station. Sandvika is also one of the stops along the route of the Flytoget, Airport Express Train. Sandvika also has Scandinavia's largest super mall, Sandvika Storsenter, with 190 stores and a total area of . On 13 March 2013, the previously pedestrianized main street was opened for car traffic and on-street parking. Sandvika used to be home to the BI Norwegian Business School, which moved to new surroundings in Nydalen, Oslo in August 2005. Sandvika Station
Sandvika Station () is a railway station located at Sandvika in Bærum, Norway. Situated on the Drammen Line, from Oslo S, it also an intermediate station of the Asker Line. Vy serves the station with local and regional, with about 7,000 passengers using the station daily. It is also served by the Airport Express Train and serves as the main bus terminal for the town. The station is elevated and has two island platforms and four tracks. The station opened along with the Drammen Line on 7 October 1872, until 1922 being named Sandviken. The original station building was designed by Georg Andreas Bull in Swiss chalet style. The station underwent a renewal from 1917 to 1922, receiving gauge conversion to standard gauge, electrification. A new station building designed by Gudmund Hoel opened in 1919. Sandvika Storsenter is a Super regional mall, super-regional mall located in Sandvika outside of Oslo, Norway. It is owned by the Olav Thon, Olav Thon Group () which in turn is owned by the Olav Thon Foundation (). The mall opened October 14, 1993, and was then 24,000 square metres. It was expanded in 1997, making it the largest shopping mall in Norway at the time. Today, after one main extension in 2007, the mall is 60,000 square metres. For a good while it had 190 stores; today that number has increased to 197. Sandvika Storsenter is visited by an average of more than 25,000 customers every day, 150,000 per week and 8 million a year. Flytoget
Flytoget (') is a high-speed rail, high-speed airport rail link, airport railway service connecting Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, Oslo Airport to Oslo Central Station. Run by Flytoget AS (formerly NSB Gardermobanen AS), it operates on the high-speed Gardermoen Line using sixteen GMB Class 71 electric trains. Normal service frequency is once every ten minutes, with five of the services each hour continuing westwards beyond Oslo Central. The journey takes nineteen minutes, with extended services serving nine stops within Greater Oslo and taking up to 60 minutes. Bærum RK
Bærum Roklubb is a sports club from Bærum, Norway. Established in 1917, its only sport is Rowing (sport), sport rowing. It is based at Kalvøya, Bærum, Kalvøya outside Sandvika, and has shared the current locality with the canoeing club Bærum KK since 1972. Bærum RK originally had its own house at Kalvøya, but this was moved to Kadettangen in 1925, and sold in 1936 due to financial problems. Between 1936 and 1972 the rowing club used a house constructed on the tiny islet Danmark. In 1972 the new clubhouse on Kalvøya was finished and both Bærum rowing club and Bærum KK moved into the new clubhouse. The house was burned to the ground during a fire in 1996, but a new club house was opened in May 2000. Well-known members include Ole Nafstad, Svein Nielsen and Vetle Vinje. Kalvøya, Bærum
Kalvøya () is situated in the inner Oslofjord. The island is close to Sandvika in Bærum and to the south of it. The island has been connected to the mainland by a suspension bridge to Kadettangen since 1962 or 1963. Kalvøya is one of the most popular bathing spots in Bærum. On the far east side of the island there is a nude beach. Kalvøya plays host to an annual soccer tournament for kids and a children's festival. The festival Øyafestivalen, first held in 1999, also has its roots there, before its growing popularity brought about its move to Tøyen Park in Oslo in 2014.
