Armidale Regional Council
The Armidale Region is a local government area in the New England and Northern Tablelands regions of New South Wales, Australia. This area was formed in 2016 from the merger of the Armidale Dumaresq Shire with the surrounding Guyra Shire. The combined area covered the urban area of Armidale and the surrounding region, extending primarily eastward from the city through farming districts to the gorges and escarpments that mark the edge of the Northern Tablelands. The Armidale Region is administered by the Armidale Regional Council. The Mayor of the Armidale Region is Cr. Sam Coupland, an independent politician. Kentucky is a village in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. It is about south of Uralla and north-west of Walcha and about off the New England Highway. Kentucky is located by rail from Sydney in Sandon County on the Northern Tablelands. It is at an altitude of 1066m and is within Uralla Shire. At the 2016 census, Kentucky had a population of 158. History On 25 May 1870 Alexander Binning Walker, a rural lock-up keeper, chased, confronted and killed the infamous bushranger Fred Ward, alias Captain Thunderbolt, at Kentucky Creek, Uralla. Hillgrove is a Northern Tablelands (New South Wales) village with population of about 95. The village is located approximately 30 km east of Armidale and is 5 kilometres south of the Waterfall Way. Dumaresq, New South Wales
Dumaresq is a town in the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 20 km north-west of Armidale, on Boorolong Road. The local council is Armidale Regional Council, it once belonged to Dumaresq Shire, and then Armidale Dumaresq Shire. The town is located within Sandon County. The Great Northern Railway reached Dumaresq in 1884. The passenger station at Dumaresq opened as "Inverella" in 1884, with the name changing to "Eversleigh" in 1885 and finally "Dumaresq" in 1889.Ellsmore, Donald (2002). Dangarsleigh, New South Wales
Dangarsleigh is a rural locality and minor trigonometrical station about 11 km south east of Armidale, New South Wales. The locality is at an altitude of about 1,020 metres on the Northern Tablelands in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. The name Dangarsleigh commemorates the surveyor and pastoralist Henry Dangar’s name. It is within the Armidale Regional Council local government area and Sandon County. At the junction of Dangarsleigh Road there is a war memorial erected by the Perrot family in memory of their oldest son, Harold, who was killed at Passchendale Ridge in the First World War. A dirt road leads to the Dangars or Dangarsleigh Falls, at which Salisbury Waters drops 120 metres into the gorge below. Dudley Ryder, 1st Earl of Harrowby, PC, FSA (22 December 176226 December 1847) was a prominent British politician of the Pittite faction and the Tory party. Background and education Born in London, Ryder was the eldest son of Nathaniel Ryder, 1st Baron Harrowby, and his wife Elizabeth (née Terrick). Sir Dudley Ryder was his grandfather and Richard Ryder his younger brother. He was educated at Harrow School and St John's College, Cambridge. Political career Harrowby was elected to his father's old Parliament seat of Tiverton in 1784. His administrative career began with an appointment to be Joint Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in 1789. In 1791 he was appointed joint Paymaster of the Forces, having been made Vice-President of the Board of Trade in 1790.
