Sainte-Luce, Quebec
Sainte-Luce () is a municipality in the La Mitis Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. The population in the Canada 2021 Census was 2,845. History The territory was known as of 1829 as the parish of Sainte-Luce, which was established in 1835. It became a municipality in 1855, but this same municipality had been created 1845 under the name of Lessard, for the name of the seigneurie which existed during the 16th century. The name of Sainte-Luce was given in honour of Luce-Gertrude Drapeau (1794–1880), wife of the local notary, Thomas Casault, one the persons that established the seigneurie when the parish was canonized. The patron saint was Saint Lucy. In 1918, the municipality of the village of Luceville was created from the territory of Sainte-Luce. Because it had one of the nicest beaches in the area, it had the nickname of Sainte-Luce-sur-Mer. The name of Luceville now identifies with the former municipality of the same name. ... Rimouski
Rimouski ( ; ) is a city in Quebec, Canada. Rimouski is located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, at the mouth of the Rimouski River. It has a population of 48,935 (as of 2021). Rimouski, whose motto is ''Legi patrum fidelis'' (Faithful to the law of our fathers), is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence Estuary, around 300 km downstream of Quebec City. Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard () is a parish municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in the Rimouski-Neigette Regional County Municipality. History On 8 March 1696, Louis de Buade de Frontenac granted the seigneury of Lessard to Pierre de Lessard and Barbe Fortin. Over the next 200 years, Saint-Anaclet underwent many territorial changes as a result of exchanges and annexations to meet the requirements of the lords of the day. Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard was officially created on May 8, 1859 when territories from Saint-Germain-de-Rimouski and Sainte-Luce were merged to create the new municipality. However, it was not until the following September 14 that the first cadastre was deposited, defining the municipality's first territorial boundaries. History Saint-Donat was originally a sector of Sainte-Luce. Saint-Donat split from Sainte-Luce in 1869 to became the parish municipality of Saint-Donat. The original economic vocation of Saint-Donat was based almost entirely on forestry, as evidenced by the many remnants of the sawmills that once dotted the area. Mont-Joli () is a city in the La Mitis Regional County Municipality within the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. It is the county seat. The city is located east of Rimouski near the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River. History In 1867, the main condition for New Brunswick and Nova-Scotia entering into the Canadian Confederation was, to be linked to the rest of the country by the railway. In 1868, work began on the Intercolonial Railway and the authorities decided to have the railway turn at Saint-Octave-de-Métis in Gaspésie. However, this village, because of its rugged landscape, was not suitable to receive the train station and maintenance shops. The engineers turned to the higher 2nd farming rank of Sainte-Flavie, and the train station was named Sainte-Flavie-Station. Sainte-Flavie () is a parish municipality in the La Mitis Regional County Municipality of Quebec, Canada, located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, about northwest of Mont-Joli.
