Rosevale is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Rosevale had a population of 208 people. Geography The Bremer River enters the locality from the south-west ( Moorang) and exits to the north ( Mount Walker West / Mount Walker). History The name ''Rosevale'' is a corruption of ''Rossvale'', the name of a pastoral run pastoral used first in 1850s by William Ross. The Rosevale Retreat Hotel was built in 1852 as a homestead and is the state's oldest hotel building. A victualler's licence was granted in 1887 to a Matthew Carmody. Rosevale State School opened 24 November 1884. It was mothballed on 31 December 2009 and closed on 31 December 2010. The school was located at 628 Sellars Road (corner of Tierneys Bridge Road, ). The school's website was archived. St Stephen's Anglican Church was opened circa 1887. The church closed circa 1962. Shire Of Moreton
The Shire of Moreton was a local government area in South East Queensland, Australia, located about southwest of Queensland's capital, Brisbane. It represented an area surrounding but not including Ipswich, and existed from 1917 until 1995, when it merged into the City of Ipswich, City of Brisbane, and Shire of Esk. History In 1879, the Divisional Boards Act was passed, allowing boards to be created to provide amenities and charge rates, but with limited independence. In a proclamation on 11 November 1879, a number of Divisions were proclaimed in the Ipswich area— Brassall, Bundamba, Mutdapilly, Purga and Walloon. On 25 October 1890, Normanby Division and Rosewood Division followed. The Shire of Mutdapilly is a former local government area in the south-east of Queensland, Australia. The name comes from the Mutdapilly locality, but the locality was never the administrative centre of the shire. History On 11 November 1879, the Mutdapilly Division was created as one of 74 divisions within Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879'' with a population of 1809. Initially the divisional office was in the Ipswich Railway Station (outside of the division itself). On 4 January 1884, there was an adjustment of boundaries between No. 2 subdivision of Mutdapilly Division and subdivision No. 2 of the Goolman Division. Having an office in Ipswich (outside of the division) was not very convenient for many council members, ratepayers, and contractors, particularly those living in the southern parts of the division, such as Rosevale. The Bremer River is a river that is a tributary of the Brisbane River, located in the Scenic Rim and Brisbane regions of South East Queensland, Australia. The -long Bremer River drains several Scenic Rim valleys in south-east Queensland, including the Fassifern Valley, with its catchment area covering approximately . Most valleys within the catchment have extensive river terraces. The Bremer River system is extremely degraded. European explorers John Oxley and Allan Cunningham visited the river in 1824 and it was first named by Oxley as Bremer's Creek presumably after Captain James Gordon Bremer who was in charge of , at that time performing duties in the waters of the colony of New South Wales.
