Politics The 2023 election was surprisingly won by Vox, with the municipality bucking the trend of flipping to the PP: in Rascafría the PP, as well as local parties AVRO and SRO, suffered a drop in support, with Vox and PSOE both benefitting. Oteruelo Del Valle
Oterulo del Valle is a town located in the municipality of Rascafría, in the Community of Madrid, Spain. Oterulo del Valle was an independent town until 1975 and in 2021, had a population of 138 people. History Origins Oteruelo del Valle and Rascafría were settled in the Middle Ages, and was related to the repopulation of the nearby mountains. This territory was part of Kingdom of Toledo (Crown of Castile), Toledo, but was deserted, allowing the councils to acquire it, in exchange for military services. Consequently, those territories were repopulated. 16th, 17th and 18th centuries In the 16th century, Rascafría and Oteruelo were unattached places, belonging to the Community of Segovia. 49 neighbours and 64 houses were built in Oteruelo. Santa Maria De El Paular
The Monasterio de Santa María de El Paular (Santa María de El Paular Monastery) is a former Carthusian monastery (Spanish ''cartuja'', "charterhouse") located just northwest of Madrid, in the town of Rascafría, located in the Valley of Lozoya below the Sierra de Guadarrama. History Construction is believed to have begun in 1390 by orders of Henry II of Castile, and construction proceeded for fifty years under his son, John I of Castile. It was sited where an old chapel stood. Supposedly he was spurred to this project due to his plundering of a List of Carthusian monasteries, chartreuse during a campaign in France. This was the first chartreuse in Castille and Leon. In 1403, a small adjacent palace was built under Rodrigo Alonso. Multiple architects contributed to the complex, including Juan Guas, Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón, Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo, Francisco Hurtado and Vicente Acero.
