The Instituto Nacional de Estatística (Portuguese for the ''National Statistics Institute'', abbreviated as INE) is the public statistics institute of Cape Verde. Its current president is Osvaldo Rui Monteiro dos Reis Borges. The population censuses are held every first year of a decade; the most recent was in 2010. Its main office is on 18 Rua da Caixa Económica in the capital city of Praia. Aristides Pereira International Airport ( Portuguese ''Aeroporto Internacional Aristides Pereira'') is an airport in Cape Verde located on the island of Boa Vista, about 5 km southeast of the island capital Sal Rei. It is the third-busiest airport in the country. History The conversion of the existing airport of Rabil into an international airport started in 2005, and was completed in 2007. The runway was extended from 1,200 to 2,100 metres length and from 30 to 45 metres width. The project cost 21 million euros. The airport was officially opened on 31 October 2007. The Lagoa do Rabil (Rabil lagoon) is a wetland site in the Cape Verde archipelago, on the island of Boa Vista. It has been recognised as a wetland of international importance by designation under the Ramsar Convention since 2005. The site lies at the mouth of the seasonally flowing Ribeira do Rabil, near the town of Rabil on the west coast of Boa Vista. The site comprises the river mouth, the associated lagoon, the surrounding dunes system and its vegetation dominated by ''Tamarix'', ''Cyperus'', ''Zygophyllum'' and ''Euphorbia'' species. The site supports a population of Iago sparrows and several species of waders, including Eurasian spoonbill.
