Prison Saint-Paul
Prison Saint-Paul, also named Prison Saint-Paul - Saint Joseph was the maison d'arrêt of Lyon, France, located in the Confluence quarter, 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, in the south of the Gare de Lyon-Perrache. It was so named because of its proximity to the Palais de Justice and its address is 33 cours Suchet. The building, being too old, is now the subject of new projects. All prisoners have been moved to the new prison of Corbas. History In 1847, the decision was made to construct a facility that could house 550 prisoners divided into 7 districts. Built in under the direction of the architect Louis-Pierre Baltard, its plans were previously drawn by Antonin Louvier on 14 February 1860, later approved by the General Council of the buildings on 7 April of the same year. Louis-Pierre Baltard (9 July 1764 – 22 January 1846) was a French architect, and engraver and father of Victor Baltard. Life He was born in Paris. Gare De Lyon-Perrache
Lyon-Perrache (french: gare de Lyon-Perrache) is a large railway station located in the Perrache district, in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, France. The station was opened in 1857 and is located on the Paris–Marseille railway, Lyon–Geneva railway and Moret–Lyon railway. The train services are operated by SNCF and include TGV, Intercity and local services. The station was built in 18 months starting in 1855 by François-Alexis Cendrier for the Chemin de fer de Paris à Lyon. From the beginning it was designed as a central station unifying the lines of the three companies then serving Lyon, which merged to form the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM) as the station was opening. Claude-Marius Vaïsse
Claude-Marius Vaïsse (8 July 1799 – 8 August 1864) was a French lawyer who joined the administration of the July Monarchy. During the French Second Republic he was briefly Minister of the Interior. Under the Second French Empire he was appointed prefect of the Rhône department. He was called the " Hausmann of Lyon" for his work on urban design in Lyon. Early years Claude-Marius Vaïsse was born in Marseille, Bouches -du- Rhône, on 8 August 1799. He studied law, and began to practice in Marseille. Under the Bourbon Restoration he showed that he had strong Liberal views. After the July Revolution in 1830 he sold his practice and became Secretary General of the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône. He went to Algeria with General Danrémont, and was named Director of Civil Affairs in Algiers in 1837. Couzon
Couzon () is a commune in the Allier department in central France. Population Economy The economy is based around forestry, agriculture and most people have small holdings. Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is a former commune in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France.
