Peristeri (Greek language, Greek: Περιστέρι, meaning "pigeon/dove" in Greek) is a suburban municipality in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. With 139,981 inhabitants (2011 census), it is the seventh-largest municipality of Greece by population. History The ancient deme Leuconoe (Attica), Leuconoe, is believed that it was located at Peristeri. Geography Peristeri is located about northwest of the centre of Athens. It lies between the Egaleo (mountain), Egaleo Mountain in the northwest and the Cephissus (Athenian plain), Cephissus river in the southeast. The municipality has an area of . Peristeri B.C. (Greek language, Greek: Περιστερίου K.A.E.) is a Greek professional basketball club that was founded on October 22, 1971. The club is located in Peristeri, Greece, which is a suburban municipality in west Athens. It is a part of the G.S. Peristeri (Γ.Σ. Περιστερίου) sports club, multi-sports club. Agioi Anargyroi ( el, Άγιοι Ανάργυροι) is a suburb in the north-central part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. It takes its name from the " Holy Unmercenaries": saints who received no payment for their medical services. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. Athinon Avenue
Athinon Avenue (also known as Kavalas Avenue) is an avenue linking west of downtown Athens at Achilleos Street and Konstantinopouleos Avenue and the Piraeus interchange with the road linking Skaramagkas and Piraeus. For its entire length except for east of Kifissou for eastbound lanes, it is a part of GR-8 and GR-8A and the E94 south section west of Kifissou Avenue. The western section is lined with the historic Iera Odos.
