The Angolan Men's Basketball League, (in Portuguese: ''Campeonato Nacional de Basquetebol em Séniores Masculinos''), for sponsorship reasons known as the Unitel Basket, is the top tier men's basketball league in Angola. Primeiro de Agosto has been the most successful club in Angola with a total of 19 titles won, followed by Petro de Luanda who have 17 championships. The champions of each Unitel Basket season qualify directly for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Sponsorship names In 2014, the Angolan Basketball Federation signed a sponsoring deal with Angola's Banco de Investimento e Crédito, which it claimed to be more favourable than the one with Banco Africano de Investimentos. Such agreement caused the league to be renamed as BIC Basket. Angolan Basketball Federation
The Angolan Basketball Federation (''Federação Angolana de Basquetebol'' or simply FAB) is the governing body of official basketball competitions in Angola. FAB was founded in 1976, with Mr. José Jaime de Castro Guimarães serving as chairman. The federation was first housed at Rua Rainha Ginga and later moved to the current address on the ground floor of an apartment building located in the Cidadela Sports Compound. FAB oversees the activities of the 18 provincial basketball associations in the country. Typically the federation has a 42-member staff, including 3 members of the general assembly, 3 from the audit committee, 5 from the legal board, 5 from the disciplinary board and 16 collaborators while the management is made up of 10 members. Benguela (; Umbundu: Luombaka) is a city in western Angola, capital of Benguela Province. Benguela is one of Angola's most populous cities with a population of 555,124 in the city and 561,775 in the municipality, at the 2014 census. 2012–13 BAI Basket
The 2012–13 season (35th edition) of BAI Basket kicked off on November 16, 2012, with 10 teams playing the regular season in a double round robin system. The 5 best teams qualified for group A and the last five, group B in an intermediate stage, in which each group will play in a double round robin, at the end of which the best four teams of group A are playing the final four for the title in a round robin system at four rounds. The Pavilhão Anexo is an Angolan state-owned indoor arena located in Complexo Desportivo da Cidadela, Luanda. The arena, with a 1500-seat capacity, is the second to be built in the Cidadela Sports Compound, following the Pavilhão da Cidadela.
