Pierce Township is one of the fourteen townships of Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 15,096 at the 2020 census. Geography Located in the western part of the county along the Ohio River, it borders the following townships: * Union Township - north * Batavia Township - northeast * Monroe Township - southeast * Ohio Township - south * Anderson Township, Hamilton County - northwest Campbell County, Kentucky lies across the Ohio River to the southwest. Parts of the former village and census-designated place of Amelia (dissolved in 2019) are located in eastern Pierce Township. Part of the census-designated place of Withamsville is located in the township's northwest, and the unincorporated community of New Palestine is in the southwest of the township beside the river. Withamsville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce and Union townships of Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,357 at the 2020 census. History A post office called Withamsville was established in 1828, and remained in operation until 1923. The community was named for Rev. Maurice Witham, a pioneer who settled there around 1800. Geography Withamsville is located in western Clermont County along the southern border of Union Township. The southeast corner of the CDP crosses into Pierce Township to the south. Amelia, Ohio
Amelia is an unincorporated community and former village in Pierce and Batavia townships in Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,575 at the 2020 census. Amelia incorporated in 1900. In November 2019, residents voted to dissolve the village over the imposition of a local income tax. Amelia was by far the most populous village in state history to be dissolved and the first to be partitioned between two townships. History Amelia was not officially platted. The area was originally called Milltown, later shortened to Milton. However, when a post office was established in 1836, there was already a Milton Post Office in the state. Anderson Township is a township located southeastern Hamilton County along the Ohio and Little Miami Rivers, approximately 13 miles southeast of downtown Cincinnati. The population was 44,088 at the 2020 census. History Anderson Township's earliest settlement came in 1788, when pioneer Benjamin Stites settled near the mouth of the Little Miami River. The treaty of Easton forbade entering Ohio. but because England had been run out in the Revolutionary War, the local natives did not know treaty was void.
