Pelėdnagiai (formerly , ) is a small town in Kėdainiai district municipality, in Kaunas County, in central Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the town had a population of 1016 people. It is located from Kėdainiai, on the left bank of the Nevėžis river, by its tributary the Ašarėna. Roads to Kėdainiai, Babtai, Jonava, Šeduva go next to Pelėdnagiai. There are kindergarten, library, culture house, cemetery. The Pelėdnagiai Botanical Sanctuary is located nearby. Pelėdnagiai Eldership () is a Lithuanian Elderships of Lithuania, eldership, located in the south eastern part of Kėdainiai District Municipality. Eldership was created from the Pelėdnagiai ''selsovet'' in 1993. Geography The territory of Pelėdnagiai Eldership is located mostly in the Nevėžis Plain and the Nevėžis river valley. Relief is mostly flat, cultivated as agriculture lands. Ašarėna
The Ašarėna is a river in Kėdainiai district municipality, Kaunas County, in central Lithuania. It flows for 6.4 kilometres and has a basin area of 8.8 km2. A left-bank tributary of the Nevėžis, the Ašarėna starts in the Pašiliai Forest, from Medekšiai. It meets the Nevėžis next to Pelėdnagiai. There are two ponds on the Ašarėna in Pelėdnagiai. The hydronym possibly derives from Lithuanian word ''ešerys'' (or ''ašarys'' in local dialect, 'perch Perch is a common name for freshwater fish from the genus ''Perca'', which belongs to the family Percidae of the large order Perciformes. January Events
The January Events () were a series of violent confrontations between the civilian population of Lithuania, supporting independence, and the Soviet Armed Forces. The events took place between 11 and 13 January 1991, after the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania, restoration of independence by Lithuania. As a result of the Soviet military actions, 14 civilians were killed and over 140 were injured as they peacefully protested for freedom in what is known as the Vilnius massacre. The 13th of January was the most violent day of the month in Lithuania and this was the bloodiest act of repression by Soviet forces since the April 9 tragedy. The events were primarily centered in the capital city Vilnius, but Soviet military activity and confrontations also occurred elsewhere in the country, including Alytus, Šiauliai, Varėna and Kaunas. A ''seniūnija'' (in English: eldership, elderate, ward, parish, or subdistrict) is the smallest Subdivisions of Lithuania, administrative division of Lithuania. An eldership may comprise a very small region consisting of few villages, one single town, or a part of a big city. Elderships vary in size and population depending on their location and nature. A few elderships make up a municipality. Šilainiai, Dainava (Kaunas), Dainava, Verkiai, Žirmūnai and Pašilaičiai are the most populous elderates, with population counts over , around twice the population of some entire municipalities. A sundial is a horology, horological device that tells the time of day (referred to as civil time in modern usage) when direct sunlight shines by the position of the Sun, apparent position of the Sun in the sky.
