Pavão (footballer, Born 1947)
Fernando Pascoal Neves (12 July 1947 – 16 December 1973), commonly known as Pavão, was a Portuguese footballer who played as a central midfielder for FC Porto in the Primeira Liga. Career Born in Chaves, Pavão began playing football in his local team Chaves. In 1964 he entered Porto's youth academy and after one season, joined the senior team eventually playing for the club his entire professional career. In December 1973, he collapsed after completing a pass during the 13th minute of a league match against Vitória Setúbal at Estádio das Antas, dying of a heart attack at age 26. Chaves (), officially the City of Chaves (), is a city and a concelho, municipality in the north of Portugal. The 1967–68 Taça de Portugal was the 28th edition of the Portuguese football knockout tournament, organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The 1967–68 Taça de Portugal began on 8 October 1967. The final was played on 16 June 1968 at the Estádio Nacional. Vitória de Setúbal were the previous holders, having defeated Académica de Coimbra 3–2 in the previous season's final. Defending champions Vitória de Setúbal were unable to regain the Taça de Portugal as they were defeated in the final by Porto who claimed their third Taça de Portugal. The Taça de Portugal (; ) is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Generali Tranquilidade since the 2024–25 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions. Matches are played from August–September to May–June, and the final is traditionally held at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, near Lisbon. The cup winners qualify for the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (or the runners-up, in case the winners are also the league champions) and the UEFA Europa League.
