Paul-Arthur Séguin
Paul-Arthur Séguin (October 2, 1875 – November 24, 1946) was a Canadian notary and political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Assomption and then L'Assomption—Montcalm in the House of Commons of Canada from 1908 to 1935 as a Liberal. He was born in Charlemagne, Quebec, the son of Felix Séguin and Vitaline Noiseux, and was educated at the Collège de L'Assomption and the Université Laval. In 1899, he married Marie Anna Rivest. L'Assomption (federal Electoral District)
L'Assomption was a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1917. It was created by the British North America Act, 1867, ''British North America Act'', 1867. It was amalgamated into the L'Assomption—Montcalm electoral district in 1914. L'Assomption, Quebec
L'Assomption () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada on the L'Assomption River. It is the seat of the Regional County Municipality of L'Assomption. It is located on the outer fringes of the Montreal urban area. Most of the economy depends on the agricultural industries of the surrounding plains. It is also the cultural centre of the region. History In 1647, the L'Assomption Seignory was granted to Pierre Legardeur de Repentigny, named after the river already named such since the seventeenth century. Between 1640 and 1700, a settlement formed inside a large horseshoe-shaped meander of the L'Assomption River. Amerindians had already been visiting this site since ancient times and called it ''Outaragasipi'' meaning winding river, in reference to the river's course. Terrebonne () is an Greater Montreal, off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is located in the North Shore (Laval), North Shore region of the Montreal area, north of Laval, Quebec, Laval across the Rivière des Mille-Îles. Ruben Charles Laurier
Ruben Charles Laurier (December 26, 1868 – September 26, 1947) was a physician and political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Assomption in the House of Commons of Canada from 1906 to 1908 as a Liberal. He was born in Lachenaie, Quebec, the son of Jules Laurier and Rosalie Rochon, and was educated at the Collège de l'Assomption and the Université Laval. In 1895, he married Marie Louise. Laurier was elected to the House of Commons in a 1906 by-election held after the death of Romuald-Charlemagne Laurier.
