Oto Žarnay
Oto Žarnay (born 18 March 1969 in Košice) is a Slovak teacher, anticorruption activist and politician. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as an MP of the National Council, elected on the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities list. In February 2017, he was one of the founding members of the Together – Civic Democracy party. Early life Žarnay studied Pedagogy at the University of Prešov. He worked as a proofreader, editor and teacher. Whistleblower Žarnay worked as a teacher at Commerce Academy high school on the Polárna street in Košice. He was also the director of the teacher parents association at the school. In 2013 he wrote a public letter to the Prime Minister Robert Fico, stating that the school pays €400 monthly for likely bogus "external legal services". National Council (Slovakia)
The National Council of the Slovak Republic (, abbreviated to ''NR SR'') is the national parliament of Slovakia. It is unicameralism, unicameral and consists of 150 members, who are elected by universal suffrage under proportional representation with seats distributed via largest remainder method with Hagenbach-Bischoff quota every four years. Slovakia's parliament has been called the 'National Council' since 1 October 1992. From 1969 to 1992, its predecessor, the parliament of the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia, was called the Slovak National Council (). Ján Mičovský
Ján Mičovský (born 1954) is a Slovak forester, anti-corruption campaigner and politician. He was the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the cabinets of Igor Matovič and Eduard Heger. In 2009, Mičovský became a whistleblower over suspicions that the state-owned forestry company (which he had worked for since 2002) was losing millions of euros due to corruption and a lack of transparency in its allocation of hunting grounds. He resigned from the company in January 2010. From 2012 to 2016, Mičovský was a member of the National Council during the 2012-2016 term, being elected as an OĽaNO member. Mičovský announced his resignation on 25 May 2021 after his nomination for chair of the Slovak Land Fund, Gabriela Bartošová was arrested and charged in relation with a bribery case. OĽaNO Politicians
Slovakia (), known as Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (, OĽANO) until 2023, is a populist political party in Slovakia. Founded in 2011 by former businessman Igor Matovič, the party champions anti-corruption, anti-elitist and anti-establishment sentiments. It is also frequently identified as a business-firm party. 2020 Slovak Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovakia on 29 February 2020 to elect all 150 members of the National Council. The populist Ordinary People and Independent Personalities–NOVA–Christian Union–Change from Below (OĽaNO–NOVA–KÚ–ZZ) party emerged as the largest parliamentary group, winning 53 seats. Simona Petrík (, born 10 November 1982) is a Slovakia, Slovak politician who served as a member of the National Council (Slovakia), National Council of Slovakia from 2016–2020 and is serving again from 2023. Early life Petrik was born on 10 November 1982 in Liptovský Mikuláš, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. She studied political science at Comenius University in Bratislava. Jozef Mihál
Jozef Mihál (born 18 March 1965) is a Slovak politician and tax consultant. He was Deputy Prime Minister; Minister for Labour, Social Affairs, and Family; and deputy leader of Freedom and Solidarity (SaS). Mihál attended Charles University in Prague, graduating in mathematics and physics in 1988. He worked for Aurus. From 2005 to 2006, he served as an advisor to the government on reform of health insurance. From 2007, he has owned his own company, Relia, which provides consultancy and training on tax. 2016 Slovak Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovakia on 5 March 2016 to elect the 150 members of the National Council. The ruling left-wing populist Direction – Social Democracy (Smer) party remained the strongest party, but lost its majority.
