Óscar Álvarez (footballer, Born 1902)
Óscar Álvarez González (1 May 1902 – 11 June 1972) was a Spanish footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Real Oviedo. He later worked as a manager. He was also a member of the Spanish football squad that competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Club career Born in Oviedo, Óscar started his football career in his hometown club , where he began playing as a goalkeeper by chance, replacing a teammate who had been injured during a match, and he soon demonstrates great qualities that made him stand out between the posts. In 1926, he was one of the main promoters of the merger between Stadium and the neighboring club , which resulted in the birth of Real Oviedo. Óscar was named the club's first-ever captain and he defended the Real Oviedo shirt from the first day of its existence until the Spanish Civil War interrupted football competitions in 1936. Óscar Marcelino Álvarez (25 May 1948 – 28 April 2016) was an Argentine professional football player. Club He played in Argentina for Banfield and Newell's Old Boys between 1968 and 1970 before reappearing in Greece. PAS Giannina In 1972, he played four years for Greek club PAS Giannina, scoring 77 goals and becoming the second highest scorer in the club's history. Panathinaikos In 1976, he was transferred to Greek giants Panathinaikos where he played until 1980, scoring 57 goals and becoming the ninth highest scorer in the club's history. He was part of the team that earned the 1976–77 double. In 1977 Alvarez was the third scorer of the Greek championship with 19 goals and in 1978 he placed in the second place of scorers with 18 goals. Óscar Álvarez Sanjuán (born 9 June 1977) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a central defender, currently assistant manager of Girona FC B. Playing career Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Álvarez finished his youth career with local FC Barcelona, going on to feature for its C and B teams until the age of 22. He later signed with Real Oviedo, making his La Liga debut on 16 October 1999 by coming in as a late substitute in a 2–2 away draw against Real Madrid. After playing for UE Lleida and CD Tenerife in the Segunda División, Álvarez joined Gimnàstic de Tarragona of the same league in July 2005. In his first and only season he contributed only 524 minutes in all competitions, but achieved promotion in the league. Óscar David Álvarez Ortega (born 29 March 1983) is a Colombian professional golfer who currently plays on PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Amateur career Early in his career, Álvarez was named Colombia's Amateur Golfer of the Year in 2000. As an amateur, he qualified for the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club but failed to make the cut after shooting rounds of 78 and 80. Following this he qualified for the 2004 U.S. Amateur. At college level, he played at Brigham Young University and was a two time All-American before graduating in 2006. Professional career After graduating from the university, Álvarez turned professional in 2006 and joined the Tour de las Américas while also playing on the Colombian Tour.
