Ordu Nefise Akçelik Tunnel
Ordu Nefise Akçelik Tunnel (), originally Hapan Tunnel, () is a highway tunnel constructed in Ordu Province, northern Turkey. With its length of , it was the country's longest tunnel at the time of its opening. The tunnel is named in honor of the Turkish female civil engineer and earth scientist Nefise Akçelik (1955-2003). Construction Ordu Nefise Akçelik Tunnel is part of the Samsun-Ordu Highway within the Black Sea Coastal Highway, the construction of which was carried out by the Turkish Nurol- Tekfen-Yüksel joint venture. The cost of the tunnel totalled to TL 361 million (approx. US$265 million as of 2007 exchange rate). The -long twin-tube tunnel carrying two lanes of traffic in each direction is flanked by -long Tekkebak Tunnel in the west and -long Asarkayası Tunnel in the east on the same highway. Perşembe (originated from Persian word meaning "Thursday"), also Heneti ( Laz and ka, ჰენეთი) and formerly Vona (), is a municipality and district of Ordu Province, Turkey. Its area is 217 km2, and its population is 30,101 (2022). The town lies on the Black Sea coast at an elevation of . Legend and history Perşembe is on the Vona Peninsula on the Black Sea coast and is held to be the point where the legendary Jason and the Argonauts were forced to land during their struggle with the storms and currents of the Black Sea. For a long time Vona was part of the Roman Empire and its successors the Byzantine Empire and Empire of Trebizond. This era ended in 1461 when Trebizond was overturned by Sultan Mehmet II and Vona was brought into the Ottoman Empire, although there was a Turkish (Chepni Tribes) community in the town before this date. Ordu () or Altınordu is a port city on the Black Sea coast of Turkey and the capital of Ordu Province. The city forms the urban part of the Altınordu, Ordu, Altınordu district, with a population of 235,096 in 2023. Name Kotyora, the original name of the city is a legacy of indigenous Colchis, Colchians. Fatsa is a municipality and district of Ordu Province, Turkey. Its area is 363 km2, and its population is 126,775 (2022). It lies on the Black Sea coast. Name The oldest recorded name of the town is Polemonion (, Latinized as Polemonium), after Polemon I of Pontus.
