Asarkayası Tunnel
Asarkayası Tunnel (), is a highway tunnel constructed in Ordu Province, northern Turkey. Asarkayası Tunnel is part of the Samsun-Ordu Highway within the Black Sea Coastal Highway, of which construction was carried out by the Turkish Nurol- Tekfen-Yüksel joint venture. The -long twin-tube tunnel carrying two lanes of traffic in each direction is flanked by -long Ordu Nefise Akçelik Tunnel in the west and -long Boztepe Tunnel in the east on the same highway. The tunnel was opened to traffic on April 7, 2007 by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Dangerous goods carriers are not permitted to use the tunnel. Perşembe (originated from Persian word meaning "Thursday"), also Heneti ( Laz and ka, ჰენეთი) and formerly Vona (), is a municipality and district of Ordu Province, Turkey. Its area is 217 km2, and its population is 30,101 (2022). The town lies on the Black Sea coast at an elevation of . Legend and history Perşembe is on the Vona Peninsula on the Black Sea coast and is held to be the point where the legendary Jason and the Argonauts were forced to land during their struggle with the storms and currents of the Black Sea. For a long time Vona was part of the Roman Empire and its successors the Byzantine Empire and Empire of Trebizond. This era ended in 1461 when Trebizond was overturned by Sultan Mehmet II and Vona was brought into the Ottoman Empire, although there was a Turkish (Chepni Tribes) community in the town before this date. Ordu Province () is a province and metropolitan municipality of Turkey, located on the Black Sea coast. Its area is 5,914 km2, and its population is 763,190 (2022). Ordu Nefise Akçelik Tunnel (), originally Hapan Tunnel, () is a highway tunnel constructed in Ordu Province, northern Turkey. Boztepe Tunnel (), is a highway tunnel located in Ordu Province, in northern Turkey. Boztepe Tunnel is a part of the Samsun-Ordu Highway within the Black Sea Coastal Highway, whose construction was carried out by the Turkish Nurol-Yüksel-Özka-YDA joint venture. It is a twin-tube tunnel with two lanes of traffic in each direction, and its length is approximately . The tunnel is flanked by the Asarkayası Tunnel which is about long, on the western side, and the Öceli Tunnel, which is approximately long, on the eastern side.
