New American Music Union
New American Music Union was a two-day summer music festival scheduled on August 8 and 9, 2008, at the SouthSide Works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lineups on two different stages were curated by Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It featured established music acts along with college bands vying for a recording contract. The show was presented by American Eagle Outfitters and co-produced by Live Nation. It was designed to be a Pittsburgh version of Milwaukee's Summerfest and Seattle's Bumbershoot. Scott Mervis of the ''Pittsburgh Post-Gazette'' reviewed the Gnarls Barkley performance favorably, while criticizing Bob Dylan's set list choices. Mervis' review resulted in several contrary letters to the editor. The festival, which had been planned as an annual event, did not return for a second year because American Eagle Outfitters had moved away from using music as a marketing tool. SouthSide Works is an open-air retail, office, entertainment, and residential complex (often referred to as a lifestyle center) located on the South Side of the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S. and just across the Monongahela River from the Pittsburgh Technology Center, the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. French Horn Rebellion
French Horn Rebellion is a Brooklyn electronic dance band formed in 2007 by Wisconsin-bred brothers Robert Perlick-Molinari and David Perlick Molinari. Robert Perlick-Molinari is a classically trained French horn player, who decided to start playing dance music while still attending the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University because he did not feel like he fit into the rigid world of classical music. The band released their debut self-titled demo in 2007, and ''The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion'' in 2011. Their second record, ''Next Jack Swing Pt. 1'', was released in 2014. Their EP, ''Foolin' Around'', was also released in 2015. David Perlick-Molinari produced and engineered MGMT's 2005 ''Time To Pretend'' EP, and over the years the band has drawn comparisons to the fellow Brooklyn band, but their most recent tracks, on ''Foolin' Around'', are decidedly more in the throwback rock & roll vein. Ella Riot
Ella Riot was a musical group based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 2007 by Tyler Duncan as My Dear Disco, the name change came in March 2011. The band first released the eponymous EP ''My Dear Disco'' in 2007, releasing its first album '' Dancethink LP'' in January 2009. The album fused electro-pop, funk, rock, and techno into a distinctive sound the band members have dubbed "DanceThink". The band released two more EPs in 2010 and their last EP '' Love Child'' in March 2011, before going into an "indefinite hiatus" in October 2011. Math the Band is an American chiptune-based synthpunk band from Providence, Rhode Island formed in 2001 by Kevin Steinhauser.
