Nærøy Municipality
Nærøy () is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality of Trøndelag Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020. It is now part of Nærøysund Municipality in the Namdalen Districts of Norway, region. Norway's smallest List of towns and cities in Norway, town, Kolvereid, was the administrative centre of the municipality. Old Nærøy Church
Old Nærøy Church ( or ) is a former parish church of the Church of Norway in Nærøysund Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the small island of Nærøya. It was once the main church for the Nærøy parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The stone church was originally built in a long church design during the 12th century. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1293, but it was likely completed around the year 1180. The centuries-old church has a rectangular nave with a narrower, rectangular chancel, and a tall tower to the west. The church was an important church for the Namdalen area. Bakka Church
Bakka Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Bakka, on the shores of the sparsely populated Nærøyfjorden. It is the church for the Nærøy parish which is part of the Sogn prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1859 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Henrik Grosch. The church seats about 200 people. The church is a small, simple building with a nave and a choir. A chancel contains the altarpiece. Due to its rural, isolated location, the Nærøy parish is one of the smallest parishes in the Diocese of Bjørgvin with only 104 members in 1999.
