Norrtåg
NorrtÃ¥g (English: Northern Trains) is a publicly owned company which is owned by Norrbotten County, Västerbotten County, Västernorrland County and Jämtland County in Sweden. The company owns passenger trains and organises passenger train operation. NorrtÃ¥g controls ticket sales and contracts an operator which handles actual train operation (staff and permits). The trains are operated under the brand name NorrtÃ¥g. NorrtÃ¥g started operation in 2010 on the newly opened Botnia line, and in 2011 it took over the until then branded MittnabotÃ¥get services. Trains were operated by BotniatÃ¥g (an SJ AB / DB Regio joint venture) until 20 August 2016, when TÃ¥gkompaniet (now Vy TÃ¥g) took over operations. NorrtÃ¥g services currently serve 82 stations with a total of 41 daily return trains reaching a total distance of 1,781 km. Vy TÃ¥g AB is a Swedish railway company that operates franchises in different parts of Sweden. The company was founded in 1999 by three former railway employees in Statens Järnvägar and the investment company SmÃ¥företagsinvest/Fylkinvest. In 2005 Norwegian State Railways (now Vy) purchased 34% of Svenska TÃ¥gkompaniet, and later on October 31, 2006 increased its ownership stake to 85%. In 2007 NSB purchased the rest of the company. Previously known as TÃ¥gkompaniet or Svenska TÃ¥gkompaniet AB (''The Swedish Train Company''), the company rebranded to Vy TÃ¥g in 2019. Mittnabotåget
MittnabotÃ¥get was a regional train service connecting Trondheim in Norway with Sundsvall in Sweden. It includes trains operated by Veolia Transport on the Mittlinjen between Sundsvall and Östersund in Sweden, and Vy, Norges Statsbaner’s cross-border NabotÃ¥get services from Östersund on to Trondheim in Norway. The line between Trondheim and Östersund operates using NSB Class 92, BM92 diesel multiple units, with two daily departures each way. The line operated by Veolia in Sweden uses electrical Regina (train), Regina units. In Östersund and Sundsvall, connections are available onwards towards Gävle and Stockholm by local trains and X 2000 expresses. Östersund Central Station () or Östersund C is the main railway station serving Östersund, Sweden. UmeÃ¥ Central Station (Swedish: ''UmeÃ¥ centralstation'' or ''UmeÃ¥ C'') is a railway station in UmeÃ¥, Sweden. The station was the sole station serving UmeÃ¥ until the opening of UmeÃ¥ East Station in 2010. Renovation of Central station was completed the following year. X60 is a series of Coradia Nordic 6-car articulated electric multiple units operated by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) on the Stockholm commuter rail network. They were manufactured by the French manufacturer Alstom at their plant in Salzgitter, Germany between 2005 and 2017, and replaced all older X10 units. Background The original cars for the Stockholm commuter rail service, called X1, were delivered between 1967 and 1975. A batch of new cars, designated X10, were delivered between 1983 and 1993. Haparanda Line
The Haparanda Line () is a long railway line between Boden and Haparanda in Sweden. There is a long section from Haparanda to TorneÃ¥, which is on the Finnish side of the Finland–Sweden border. The line is the only Swedish railway to the Finnish border. The single track line was used exclusively by freight trains between 1992 and 2021, during which time it was necessary to use buses from LuleÃ¥ to the Haparanda bus station, with onward connections to Kemi in Finland. Bombardier Itino is a diesel multiple unit manufactured by Bombardier Transportation, originally developed by Adtranz. It has two or three cars and is capable of . A total of 57 units were manufactured at the former LEW Hennigsdorf factory between 2002 and 2010. It is in service in Germany and Sweden. Main Line Through Upper Norrland
The Main Line Through Upper Norrland () is a long railway line between Bräcke, Jämtland County and Boden, Norrbotten County in Sweden. For military and regional policy reasons, it was built in very sparsely populated areas, far away from the more densely populated coast. The line has several branches to settlements on the coast, the ones to UmeÃ¥ and LuleÃ¥ being considered part of the line itself. Today the three largest settlements along the line are Boden (population 18,800), Älvsbyn (population 5,500) and Vännäs (population 4,100). In 2010, the Bothnia Line opened, which parallels the Main Line Through Upper Norrland along the coast from Sundsvall to UmeÃ¥. From 2013 all passenger traffic moved from the Main Line to the Bothnia Line, ending service between along the section between Bräcke and Vännäs.
