Norrköping Motorstadion
Norrköping Motorstadion also called the Boardic Arena (for sponsorship purposes) is a motorcycle speedway track located in the western outskirts of Norrköping. The track is located just off the Lindövägen and is adjacent to the SMK Östgöta MC Kråkvilan complex, which includes motocross and enduro. The stadium hosts the Vargarna speedway team that compete in the Swedish Speedway Team Championship and have been champions of Sweden on six occasions. History The stadium held its first meeting on 6 September 1969 and was ready for the 1970 Swedish speedway season. The stadium hosted the Nordic Speedway Final, which formed part of the World Championship in 1972. Eight more finals were held at the track in 1973, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1998. Norrköping ( , ) is a city in the province of Östergötland in eastern Sweden and the seat of Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County, about 160 km southwest of the national capital Stockholm, 40 km east of county seat Linköping and 60 km west of the Södermanland capital of Nyköping. Vargarna
Vargarna () is a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden, representing SMK Östgöta. The team race at Norrköping Motorstadion. They ride in the Elitserien and are six times champions of Sweden. History 1948 to 1954 Vargarna was one of the seven inaugural members of the Swedish speedway league, which started during the 1948 Swedish speedway season. Their first significant riders were Olle Nygren and Helge Brinkeback, who would both become Swedish champions. Th eteam raced at the old Norrköping Motorstadion in Dagsbergsfältet (the site of the modern day Medley Centralbadet swimming complex). Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of motorcycle speedway, speedway in Sweden. History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien being introduced. The second tier of the Championship is known as the Allsvenskan (speedway), Allsvenskan. Jan Tony Sören Rickardsson (born on 17 August 1970) is a Swedish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1989 to 2006 and won six Speedway World Championship titles in 15 attempts. He earned 43 caps for the Sweden national speedway team.
