Jason Crump
Jason Philip Crump (born 6 August 1975) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Australia (UK born). He is a three-time Speedway World Champion, and a World Cup winner. In a 21-year career in Speedway, Crump finished with seven World Championship titles to his name (four individual, including the U/21 title, and three teams), making him one of the most successful Australian motorcycle racers of all time. He holds the all-time record for Grand Prix wins with 23. Family His father, Phil Crump, is an Australian from the country town of Mildura and was riding for the Newport Wasps when Jason was born in Bristol, England. Rospiggarna is a motorcycle speedway team based in Hallstavik, Sweden. They ride in the Elitserien are five times champions of Sweden. History 1930 to 1977 The club was founded in 1930 and were named Orion, although it did not compete in the Swedish speedway leagues until 1966. The club joined the Swedish Division three in 1966 and the team name was changed to Stjärnorna (English: The Stars). They competed in the lower leagues of the Swedish league system as Stjärnorna until 1978. 1978 to 1993 In 1978, the name was changed again to Rospiggarna which is the demonym for people from Roslagen, where Hallstavik is situated. The club were in the second tier, which became known as Division 1 because of the introduction of the Elitserien in 1982. Wolverhampton Olympique
The Wolverhampton Olympique was an individual motorcycle speedway event that was hosted annually in the Midlands. History The event was first run in October 1966 by the Newcastle Diamonds club at their home venue Newcastle Stadium, Brough Park. At the time both Newcastle Diamonds and Wolverhampton Wolves were owned by the same promoter Mike Parker. In 1969, Parker sold his interest in Newcastle Diamonds and a number of his assets were transferred to Wolverhampton Wolves, two of which were the Olympique event and the licence of speedway rider Ole Olsen (speedway rider), Ole Olsen. With the closure of Wolverhampton in 1980 the meeting was transferred to Birmingham but when Wolves re-opened in 1984 Peter Adams brought it back to Monmore Green Stadium in Wolverhampton. Australian Long Track Championship
The Australian Long Track Championship is a Motorcycle speedway championship held annually in Australia to determine the Australian Long track motorcycle racing, Long Track champion. The event is organised and sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA). Where as motorcycle speedway takes place on tracks ranging from 250–400 metres in length, Long track racing generally takes place on 800 to 1000 metre long speedways. Prior to 1947, the championship was known as the Australian 5 Mile Dirt Track Championship and was run from 1925 to 1927 with classes including 350cc, 500cc and Unlimited. The Golden Helmet of Pardubice (Czech: Zlatá přilba) is a motorcycle speedway competition hosted annually in Pardubice, the Czech Republic. It is the oldest motorcycle speedway race in Europe and is considered prestigious. History The race was established by three motorsport enthusiasts František Hladěna, Adolf Trnka and Ladislav Polák in 1929. The first 15 events of the Golden Helmet race were held on the long turf racetrack of Velká pardubická Steeplechase in Pardubice, from 1929 to 1963. On several occasions the event attracted more than 100,000 fans, but also five riders suffered mortal injuries competing on this dangerous grass track. Australian Speedway Masters Series
The Australian Speedway Masters Series (also known as the ''International Speedway Masters Series'' and the ''Series 500'') was an annual Motorcycle speedway series of races held each Australian speedway season between 1995 and 2000. The first of its type for motorcycle speedway in Australia, the competition featured the best riders from Australia racing against the best riders from around the world. The series was the brainchild of promoter and television commentator David Tapp who did most of the ground work as well as providing the television commentary. After being run over 13 rounds in 1995, the years 1996, 1997 and 1998 saw the series run over 10 rounds, 1999 was run over 11 rounds and the final series in 2000 was run over 13 rounds. The 1995 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship was the 19th edition of the World motorcycle speedway Under-21 Championships. The event was won by Jason Crump of Australia after winning a run-off against Daniel Andersson. In the run-off Andersson fell on the first lap, leaving Crump to complete three laps on his own to be crowned the champion. The success also gained him qualification to the 1996 Speedway Grand Prix.
